Was watching sports center last nite before the game.
Announcer and Antonio pierce, commentary goes like this .
"Colts , Colts, blah blah blah"
sarcastically "Imagine the Jets go 2-0 and colts go 0-2
Pierce,making face "ewwwww".
That defense last nite had Luck, Pagano, and their entire team in " awe "
They looked in complete disbelief when they showed them on the sideline.
Us guys who were critical of Fitz and wanted Geno, owe you pro Fitz guys an engraved apology![]()
One of the biggest differences on offense that I have noticed this season vs recent past is that the pass protection is nearly flawless. So my question is why is it so much better when 80% of the group is the same from last year's mess? Is it coaching/scheme or is it QB recognizing what the defense is going to do and making the proper adjustments? One other thing I have noticed regarding pass protection is that we are getting excellent work out of non-OL like Powell, Enunwa, Davis, Bohanon, and dare I say Cumberland. Regardless, it is working very well and making life bearable for Fitz while in the pocket.
Jets fans did, we follow this team religiously, every draft pick and every signing, big or small, and we knew Mac did a heck of a job upgrading this roster. Those of us who follow this team closely, we knew it. Not saying we were making Super Bowl reservations, but we knew this was a playoff caliber team on paper, all we needed was for the QB to make some plays and don't blow it. We knew Marshall and Decker gave us our best WR duo since Key & Chrebet, maybe since Toon & Walker, and we knew this defense had a chance to be special, absolutely loaded from front to back.
But you know what most of the outside world thought?
Yeah okay, they upgraded a little bit on paper, so what does that mean, they'll win 6 Games instead of 4, maybe play .500 ball at best, thats hardly worth getting excited about or worth wasting any real time talking about. The Jets were basically an afterthought. The so-called experts paid far more attention to Buffalo and Miami.
Even after we smoked the Browns in the opener, the experts were like, yeah well, its the Browns (yawn).
But you know where they're thinking now, after we went into Indy and dominated Andrew Luck to start 2-0?
We have way too many weapons. It would have been fun to see what Amaro could have been in this offense running around as the te
You don't owe us an apology for having an opinion that is different. I was a pro Geno fan until the punch. Fitz has won this team over and I love the chemistry and more importantly trust that he is building with Marshall and Decker.

Lol, I must admit Captain Checkdown looks great. So far it looks like this is the perfect scheme and team for him this year. He's doing exactly what the offense needs which gels perfectly with what the defense can do. Lets hope he keeps it going and as far as Bowles is concerned, class A chip. Thumbs up all around but I knew that would be the case. It was Fitz I was worried about but he's proving me wrong so far and I have no problem admitting that.Captain Checkdown looks pretty good now, huh??
Your friend Hawk knows his football. Yes he does.In fairness, I'll give credit to my good friend Hank, a big Bears fan, and very savvy football fan, who told me he thought the Jets looked very good coming out of preseason, and said he thought they had a good chance of making the playoffs. And after week 1 he said he expected the Jets to win easily in Indy. And believe me, he isn't a guy who says these things because he thinks that's what his friend wants to hear. In the 30 years I have known him I've taken a lot of heat by being a Jet fan, what with all the very questionable moves the Jets have made over the years. But not this year. Poor guy, he told me how bad the Bears would be this season and I did my best to cheer him up, but that's going to get pretty hard to do if the Bears keep going the way they are.
Agreed 100000000 percent. After the shalacking the Colts took last week, you would have thought they would have beaten anyone in the there home opener the very next week by 30. But the didn't and not only did they not beat us but it wasn't even a contest. We should have beat the Colts by 6-10 more points at least but our offense was stuck in mud until the last two drives in the 4th quarter. The Jets handed it to the Colts in their home opener after the Colts were beat bad the week before, this was a very impressive win and much more impressive then the Bills lose.I disagree about the Colts. No, they are not in the Patriots league, few teams are, but they are a perennial playoff team with a franchise QB and they played in the AFC Title Game last year. These guys are no pushovers, especially in that dome. They might be easy pickings for the Patriots, but not a lot of teams are walking into Indy and dominating their offense the way the Jets defense did tonight. Its one thing for the Colts to lose on the road verses Buffalo, its tough to win on the road in this league, especially in the other teams home opener, but its quite another to get dominated in your own building in your home opener, thats why this Jets win over Indy, a quality opponent in my view, is a lot more impressive than Buffalo's win over Indy. This was an eye-opening early season win for the Jets, the kind of win that makes people take notice.
There are 4 main factors for me that are making the Jets 2-0 and look like world beaters.
1) BETTER talent. This is the biggest reason why we are 2-0. Rex Ryan was asked to chicken salad out of chicken sh*t his last 4 seasons in NY. Todd Bowles, on the other hand, has great talent on his first Jets team. Brandon Marshall? Leonard Williams? Buster Skrine?
NONE of those guys were on last years team. And make no mistake about it, these guys have been HUGE difference makers between this and last season.
2) Turnovers - Now this could also go directly back to talent, but I don't believe it does. Rex Ryan, for all his coaching qualities, just could NEVER get turnovers. This just never made any sense to me. With defenses as talented as ours were, they should have gotten far more turnovers. This is omething that always annoyed me when Rex was in town.
Todd Bowles obviously has this defense looking for and sniffing out turnovers. What a huge difference it is between winning and losing when you have a positive turnover differential. The Jets are what? +8 right now? You're going to win a lot of ball games when you can have that huge of a disparity between giving up and taking the ball.
3) Penalties - The Jets are a much cleaner playing team. They commit far less penalties. Is it any wonder why Buffalo lost to NE after committing 14 penalties for 140 yards? That is called shooting yourself in the foot. This is also the complete OPPOSITE of the 2015 New York Jets.
The NYJ, in their first two games, have started with a few penalties in both games, but very quickly they have gotten their play under control in both of those games. They start to play textbook LEGAL football. Nobody should ever underestimate the huge impact this has had on this team and will have in the future.
4) QB - The NYJ have always had turnover machines as their QB's for the last 6 seasons. Now? they have a QB that is merely taking what the defense is giving him. he's doing a very nice job of protecting the ball. This is something Geno Smith could NEVER do and I truly hope that Fitz ends up staying the starter even after Geno is ready to go. This is a bright positive for the team as a whole.
Respect due and respect paid to. You called it and props to you sir. I was the biggest Fitz hater and the biggest Geno supporter I will admit. I will admit I was wrong to you guys, except for one person I will never admit it to. Lets all hope Fitz keeps it going. This is only the 2nd game and they have 14 more to go plus the playoffs.I said in a thread earlier before the season that we might have out next Vinny. He doesn't have his arm strength but he does have smarts and great WR's. Fitz brought a calm to this team once Geno got punched. I don't know how long it will last but I had a good feeling and attitude about this team from day one of the Bowles era. Even after Sheldon suspension and Geno's jaw.
