This was what I was afraid of. Coming off a big road win, and facing a team on the ropes. It had all the makings of a letdown.

The team didn't look good today. We all agree on that. But you can't start making sweeping generalizations over one game. The team is having trouble running the ball, and that needs to change. Fitzpatrick isn't going to carry us with a pass heavy offense. 50+ attempts today? That's insane. We cannot win if the ground game gets continually stuffed.

This game can be forgotten quickly with a victory in London. We definitely need Ivory and Decker back ASAP.

If we have to lose games, i'd rather against an NFC team. So far we're 2-0 vs the AFC. The game vs Miami IMHO, is a definite "MUST WIN" in order to keep up with the Pats and a wild card spot for that matter.

It was going to happen, a loss was on the horizon. What intrigues me is how Bowles responds. Can he rectify all of the mental mistakes the Jets committed? Can he have this team set for a great way to end the 1st 1/4 of the season with a 3-1 record?

One positive was Devin Smith's play. He will be a fine WR 3 for us once Decker returns.

What made that so obvious to you Elias? Whatever you're seeing, I DID NOT, put it that way. I saw a guy that got pushed all over the field. Had corners in his grill the entire game. He could not get open. This guy needs to be coached up bad. He needs to start to contribute to this team and he did NOTHING for this team yesterday.

We looked flat. Fitz showed how mediocre he is, and the D got absolutely no pressure. Coples is so dumb. Anyway with all the mistakes, was still a winnable game. Glad Kerley played, way better then Enunwa. Devin Smith looked above average. Wish we could have a redo of the game. Hope we don't lay an egg against the Phins.

I was at the game. I saw Devin open deep on multiple plays. Only once did Fitz throw to him and it was underthrown and picked off.

I agree. D. Smith looked like the same player as Greg Salas. While Fitz underthrew some balls, he never put himself in position to make a great catch.

The fact that Kerley sat the bench for 3 games behind Owusu and Enuwa is ridiculous

Agreed. It wasn't s flawless defensive game, but they did their jobs and ultimately only allowed 17 points to the opposition. But they didn't help the offense. because our offense is so suspect, they NEED help to feed off. This isn't an all world offense we have. Our gameplan at least this season is to always win with defense and that involves controlling the LOS, limiting points, and generating turnovers. The Jets D did not do that well enough today. So, yes, they do have work to do.

And to boot 7 pts were off the Marshall idiot turnover giving the Eagles a short field.. I was fine with the defense yesterday even a sub par day for them is a good day..

The Jets are going to lose games. Sometimes people forget that, especially after a big road win on national television. They're not going to be crisp every single game. They've shown they can force turnovers and move the ball on offense. I'm not going to overreact like our predictable media. This team is going to look good sometimes and look like crap occasionally. They just have to get healthy after the bye week and hope they can stay healthy. Missing Decker and Ivory really hurt. And as mentioned before, when Sheldon comes back, the run defense should improve.

My take on the game:

Fitz can't go over the top. he had Smith 2 times deep and just couldn't put the ball in front of him when Smith had position.

Fitz needs to work with Pennington on the long ball throw.... He needs to understand timing of his throw like Penny.

Fitz is what he is... I think he will give us 2-3 games like the first 2 and then get a game like yesterday... With Fitz and this D we are looking at 9-7 or 10-6

The defense was not at it's best but still played well overall.. Would have liked to see better pressure and better tackling but I will say this was an anomaly...

D. Smith looked good. I like this pick. Hopefully we use him more on stop patterns/Slant patterns and in routes. Cause if he keeps getting the cushion the Eagles were given him he will fest.

We need a healthy Decker... Personally I think we play Marshal and Smith on the outside with Decker and Kerely in the slot.... our 4 Wr set will be tough to stop... I like Osowu (sp?) but he is the #5 WR.

Enunwa seemed to get better as the game went on.. I think with more reps and more practice this kid might be a steal.

The punt return for the TD was the difference. Personally I would never punt to Sproles... get it out of bounds... one of those plays along with Terrible tackling killed us. Need to get Quigley to work on his hang time... That kick was not in the air enough... Gotta let the defenders get to Sproles. Cannot give him any space.

Simple fact of the matter is, Fitz isn't going to win many games when he is 24 points down at the half,and no running game.

When did Smith look good? 3 receptions on 9 targets is poor. The guy had so many issues getting any sort of separation, or his body to the ball.


This Enunwa love is too much. The guy has 5 drops already this year. Averaging about 10 yards per catch. Again, what is the difference between Devin Smith/Enunwa and Salas/Nelson? Not much

After Decker/Marshall, even Kerely, the drop is significant.

We looked like we would have scored on that drive, and obviously they would not have scored if he hadn't given them the ball. Seven more for us, seven less for them - would have changed the game completely, especially with our defense shutting them out in the second half.

To me, this loss is primarily on Marshall. Even with all the other gaffes the team made, we probably would have won the game if not for his huge brain-lock.

But I still think he is a great player and I'm glad he's here...

Dan, in all honesty, I think it was a team effort.

Bowles better have them a lot more ready to play next week, or the mob will be out in force.

Fitz threw to Smith at least TWICE that I can recall and BOTH times he had corners in his grill, got pushed way off to the sideline and the corner was in better position to catch the pass than Smith was.

AGREED and equally confusing. Jeremy Kerley might have the best hands on the team. The fact that he has been neglected in this offense for so long is not right. He should be playing. Because after Marshall, Decker, and Kerley the drop off in talent is HUGE. I don't know what planet those posters are from that think Kerley sucks, but it's obvious to me this guy should be getting more playing time. He's not the all around package that Decker and Marshall are, but as I said, he could have the best hands on the team. He should be starting in the slot.

Owusu has been in the league since 2012. Not sure why everyone thinks he is this diamond in the rough. Tampa let him go because....drum roll please......he was constantly hurt. Now with the Jets.....constantly hurt.

Owuau and Enunwa are great---let them battle for the 5 spot on this team. Enunwa is a big body with horrible hands. I understand what they want to do with him, but he isn't that good. Owusu isn't going to be the next Cotchery. He can't stay on the field.

Smith, first game, so I'll give him a break. But he really needs to play in the slot, and away from CBs. His ability to seperate is poor, and that was his Ohio State knock too
