Yeah, we are thin on Backs. My comment about WR was on the back of Decker / Owusu missing and it appears that we have relied heavily on BM...

Bingo... 1st half was a joke. They shut them out second half and had chances but the WR had no separation + OL right side was bad today. fitz had to rush his pass; thus, the inaccurate throws. I also agree he threw inside several times when they should have been outside and I have to agree deep ball is not his strength.
we had chances but without D,O and I we couldn't come back .... one other thing that inside kick was terrible...I mean you don't bounce it???? Anyway we lost we are 2-1 ... not bad after 4-12.
The D gave up 17 today, and 7 was after a turnover deep in their territory. But...they got no pressure and couldn't stop the run - again. And were lucky that two wheel route passes were dropped or they would have been TDs. More work to do.

Yeah, I thought the team was weak coming into the season with running backs. But look, if we get the blocking fixed, all of those RB's, Powell, Stacy, and even Ivory a little bit, will look that much better. The Jets do not have any game changers with regards to RB's. Ivory is a good back, no doubt. But he isn't a game changer. He's a very important cog in the offense.
We are also very thin with WR's. The drop off after Kerley is HUGE. All of these other guys are pretty much useless unless they have Marshall, Decker, and Kerley taking most of the weight. We need some legitimate depth that can spell any one of the starters when they are injured. Enunwe sucks.

Just got back from the game. they played like we expected them to play all year. When they get off to a horrid start, they do not have the qb who can battle them back. Fitz cannot drop back as much as he did today. He needs a running game.
Missing Decker also hurt us. I though the Marshall lateral was probably the worst play I have seen.

Well, NONE of us expected the Jets to go 16-0 this season but DAMN! Some expected the Jets to lose 5-6 games, some predicted 8-9 games and we have those in between but I MEAN DAMN, really LIKE DAMN! To lose in your home after two decent wins to a team that had no business beating you is just unacceptable. Few points I noticed as I'm sure everyone else did:
1. The defense got manhandled today, ran all over by the second and third string RBs. We probably would have had a better chance against Murray. Our pass defense was a bit suspect also. Bradford looked rather good this game. Whereas the two teams he played before us who's defense is not suppose to be anywhere as good as us made him look mediocre to garbage pretty much. What happened?
2. Guess we really see how important Decker and Ivory means to this team. Although Marshall is the clear and premiere # 1 WR, Decker takes a lot of pressure off him and provides a HUGE other option for Fitz or any other Jets QB. Ivory is the clear cut #1 RB and monster carrier for this team. I thought we'd be okay without him this week, BOY WAS I WRONG!!!
3. Although Marshall played a very productive game, he had a horrible game today. Dropped 2-3 passes he should have clearly caught and one of those drops was a TD pass. That lateral fumble was such a dumbass play, it was damn near as idiotic as the BUTT fumble play. He was obviously trying to damn hard in this one, out thought himself and he has to recover from this one.
4. Fitzpatrick, damn Fitzpatrick. He clearly showed his weaknesses some of us have been pointing out since before pre-season started. NO, this game wasn't clearly his lost but he can't carry a team. We all saw that he can't throw the deep ball, for whatever reason. Whether it's because his arm isn't strong enough or he doesn't have that perception of throwing the ball outside shoulder, ahead of the WR for him to run under it or inside of the receiver. Whichever one it is, he clearly under threw Marshall once that I remember and Smith like 3-4 times.
5. Bowles gets an F this game in team preparation. This team should have been ready to beat Phila 30-13 at least but it went so wrong, so fast. They got beat at all phases of the game and only had one sack and one TO. What happened to that vaunted Jets defense? He will get the team right for next week, I have NO DOUBTS ABOUT THAT but he definitely dropped the ball this game.

we have two starting caliber wr's marshall and decker after that the drop off is huge and yes that includes kerley who sucks just as well.
smith gets a pass for now it was his first pro game
The Jets had 4 turnovers and gave up a punt for a touchdown, had a chance with over a minute left to get the ball back but Coples had a very dumb penalty All that being said the Jets lost by 7 points. They were missing their #1 RB, #2 WR and #2 DL.
Fitzpatrick needs to be better with the deep ball, over through the friggin' guy instead of under throwing him.

Thank you and completely agree! Problem is he is our best QB. I don't trust Geno anymore and Petty, I GUESS isn't ready to play yet.
HYATT™ is a Fitzfanboi but today he played with major sukitude - that's the FACTS, folks.
Pressure was no worse than normal for an NFL QB, but his throws were errant to a larger degree than is acceptable - especially the placement on deep balls.
Redbeard has to understand his limitations and stick to the dink&dunk.
Decker is SO important to this offense.
HYATT™ is a fanboi, sure, but Decker IS that special.
He was that special at Minnesota & he continued on being special in the Pros.
The defense was somewhere else today - they certainly weren't on the field.
231 total yards allowed is pretty good defense but no INTs, 1 sack, and really poor penetration on key 3rd downs just wasn't the sort of production HYATT™ expects every week. It was good enough to win if the offense had produced - but they didn't, which puts the onus on the defense to step up and they knew it early.
They didn't git-'er-dun.
There is no cause to start freaking out yet, but on this Sunday, when the defense and offense and ST needed to do their jobs, they fell short by 1 time each.
You can survive 1 or 2 shortfalls, but all three? - game over.

Also they lost colon in the 3rd, it was winters who replaced him, who let the pressure in who tipped the ball for that int. Otherwise we had held the Eagles scoreless in the second half. A lot of mistakes, a lot of key players not on the field.
What I saw from Fitz was some wide open wrs who he never even looked at. Hell, one play in the first, Marshall was un covered, alone on the left side of the field. A quick snap would have been atd.
But let's not get so worked up over a completely revamped team starting 2-1 after a 4 win season. Fitz has some work to do, but we all know this team lives and dies by the health of the 1st stringers.

Agreed. It wasn't s flawless defensive game, but they did their jobs and ultimately only allowed 17 points to the opposition. But they didn't help the offense. because our offense is so suspect, they NEED help to feed off. This isn't an all world offense we have. Our gameplan at least this season is to always win with defense and that involves controlling the LOS, limiting points, and generating turnovers. The Jets D did not do that well enough today. So, yes, they do have work to do.

A few weeks ago we didn't even have a quarterback and we knew Fitz wasn't Montana. Relax enjoy the games, if we lose 5 more games we'll be 10 - 6.
I spent the day visiting a friend and he switched between different games, got a glimpse of the 4th quarter Pats game. No end to them trotting out new running backs and receivers, all productive, damn. You can see Brady is dialed in and PO'd at the league.
