Yes, but if the drops keep coming over the next few games, I'd bench him
Agreed, he needs to spend extra time on the jugs and become a lot more reliable catching the football, but I see why the coaching staff is so enamored with his physical skills. If the light goes on for this player his upside is considerably higher than Kerley's, its not even close. Marshall, Decker and Enunwa presents huge problems for opposing secondaries, all three are bigger and stronger than most DB's and Enunwa is probably the fastest of the three.

Also I notice that his worst drops come early in these games, he probably gets too excited, but as the game moves along he calms down and makes the catches. The play he made in the 4th Qtr verses Indy, right after the Colts scored a TD to cut it to 3, might have been the most important play of the game for the Jets. At that point the Colts were making a serious run and the crowd was totally amped, and BANG!!, just like that the kid rips off massive YAC and puts us into scoring position in one play. That quieted the crowd and led to a crucial TD to essentially ice the game.

Not making excuses, he must eliminate the ugly drops, but the upside for this kid is considerable.

Some Jet fans are funny. They expect a new player to come in and be Dez Bryant from day one. Has Enunma dropped some balls? Yes. But he is improving weekly with experience and is a much, much better blocker than Kerley will ever be. Give it time Jet Fans. Some players need to get experience before they can flash. He's not the problem with the offense. The problem is an offensive line that has not been run blocking well and a QB with limited skills.

Why is it black and white? I'm not looking for Dez Bryant. I am looking for someone to catch a football at a key point of a drive

It's not black and white and that's my point. Some young players need time to mature and learn their craft. For a receiver that includes securing the ball, route running, blocking, running with the ball, etc. Not all young players have all those skills right off the bat. So if Enunma has had some drops, I personally consider it a learning process for him. The gray area is if he can improve his skills enough where the drops decrease considerably going forward. If he doesn't improve, then his NFL career will be a short one.

I guess what I'm trying to say is the coaches obviously like enough things about him to give him a shot. The question is if Enunma, or any player for that matter, can seize the opportunity.

Would it be crazy to suggest kerley start over Enunwa, and then let Enunwa get around 25 plays a game to start and increase his role as his play rises?

It's not who starts that's important. It's who gets the majority of reps. Enunwa's blocking skill is the reason he's getting more reps at this point. Gailey probably figures Marshall and Decker will see the majority of balls so the third reciever has to be able to stretch the field (Smith or Owusu), or block (Enunwa). Leaves Kerley looking from the sidelines.

Got to agree with this.

Even though I really belive that Kerley is the Jets' best #3 WR, clearly, Fitz is goiing to go to Marshall, and Decker. Who can blame him?

Bowles and Gailey are hoping one of the big guys, or fast guys, or both, can take #3 .

Hope their right.

Neither player is starting and they plat two different roles. Kerley is a better receiver than Smith at this point but doesn't offer the speed and downfield threat.

If Owusu returns to the line up this week, I have to wonder how it will effect Smith's playing time.

Gailey clearly wants to use Smith to take the top off the defense to open things up underneath for Marshall, and Decker. At this point in time that's about all Smith can do safely with out making a route mistake that puts the ball in jeopardy.

Smith has good speed, 4.45. In the NFL that isn't super speed. Owusu ran a 4.31, with a low of 4.21. That's BIG speed. He has also been in both summer camp, and mini camp.

If it's speed they are looking for Owusu's the guy

Doesn't look good. He didn't practice again today. Marcus Williams also didn't practice. Hope that's not going to be a lingering hamstring. I want to see if the kid can continue his high level of play

If Packers fans had been as hard on James "Ledfoot" Jones as you people are being on Q, he'd never have developed into what he brings to the table today - which is a tough SoB who had a few drops even as far along as his 4th season, but he SCORES and is really hard to bring down with DB arm tackles.
Betcha Eli is pissed that the Giants cut him & let GB pick him back up.

Dude just got suspended 4 games for an issue that got dismissed last year.

IMHO, huge blessing in disguise. The team will benefit from his absence and faster players will provide this offense to become more explosive with Owusu, Kerely and Devin Smith seeing more of the field.

He could also appeal.
