I believe the Pats' left tackle got injured last night. Hopefully he's out this week. That would mean they are on their third option at lt.
Cannon's foot or toe was reported to be the problem, hopefully its a big one. :)

Really like what the team has done so far, and am looking forward to a very competitive game on Sunday. My only hesitation in getting too optimistic is that when I was watching parts of the first half of the Skins game, I was saying to myself that Belicheck has his blueprint to beat our defense. We looked vulnerable to the quick passing game, as Cousins seemed to be exploiting our soft underbelly which is the coverage of short range passes. Maybe that was the 4-3 front that Bowles deployed, I'm not sure but it made me uncomfortable for this weeks game. To our credit, adjustments were made and perhaps we just woke up as our D pitched a shutout in the 2nd half. My big concern is that we may be without both Skrine and Williams this week, and that someone like Edelman will go off. Regardless, this should be a fun one to watch.

If we double Gronk, then Edelman will get you. He is one tough SOB out there, not afraid of contact. He just sticks his nose right in there. Our secondary will face it's biggest challenge to date. Bowles/Rodgers needs a good game plan for Sunday.

Blitz seldom.
Clog lanes frequently.
Brady will gladly take a hit if he continuously sees open pastures to throw.

Every QB has the internal clock, and Brady is no different! However, he'd gladly take a blitz sack every 4 drives if it means he can bleed you slowly the rest of the time.

The only way to frustrate him is to not let him get the ball out quickly.

Watching NE pull away right now from Indy, I've gotta say, they are clicking on all cylinders offensively. We are gonna need the defense to step up big time on the road next week.

Huge game. Man, is it huge!

Colts were with them toe to toe until they pulled one of the games biggest blunders on that 4rth down. With that said, the Jets must be licking their chops at the opportunity to give Brady a chanllenge he's never seen this year.

Dan, great post.

Inside me is a voice "SCREAMING" what you just posted..

My sane mind is saying, Just relax.

I'm going to listen to my sane voice for now. :)

Still, it was a great post

I hear ya man. I know you believe in this team as well. The sane voice is always a good route to go.... but in this one coming up, IMHO... i'am going full out and stating we're beating this team and making them our bitch for the 2015 campaign. HIGHLY OVERDUE!

Obviously by no means will this team begin to start talking BS as of the Rex era. Bowles will make sure of that. He will have them honed into the game plan. No mistakes whatsoever as the football world knows that the Pats will always capitalize on them.

Plays them smart and fearless, NOT WRECKLESS as the old regime. Also, i feel Bowles has held back ALOT of his blitzes so far the past 3 weeks. The flood gates will be open on Sunday afternoon towards Tom Brady's direction.

5-1 boys............ BANK IT!

I honestly believe the Jets can beat the Pats on the road.

The key is to stay calm, and execute the game plan. No blunders.

IMO Bowles is going to try to downplay the importance of the game to the team amidst a lot of media hype.

He's going to pound in their heads all week, It's only 1 of 16 games. Go out and execute, and as he said yesterday, just keep stacking chips.

Over amped players make mental errors. Think we saw some of that with Decker yesterday. All he did at half time was calm them down, and got them to do their jobs. Think we'll see the same thing next week.

Now come next Sunday at 1pm, I'm going to be hyped, but that's OK, I don't have to perform. :)

Going to be a long week. Go Jets

I also think we have held back a few things on offense like Devin Smith over the top. With the Skins top 2 CBs out, I thought we would have seen a shot or two featuring #19 but it never happened. It's gonna happen soon and maybe this week is the time.

Agree with most of it. I think at the moment Devin Smith is a liability out there. Of course that could change. I wouldn't be surprised to see Owusu with his 4.31 speed trying to take the top off next week

Three turnovers in the first half won't work next week.

Sonny boy Brady gets the ball out in 2.06 seconds which is long before a blitz will arrive.
They've seen Pittsburg, Buffalo, and Indianapolis, 3 cuts above Washington.

The green will have to cover, stop the run, and be perfect everywhere else.

Day dreaming is fun, but I don't see a licking chops kind of game in Foxboro.
Don't put a lot of money on this game, the holidays are coming and that money will come in handy.

I've been thinking about this game since yesterday and the simple fact is if the Jets want to win this game they will need to play better than they have all season. They will need to play better than they have since probably 2011 or so.

Does anyone think, that even though the defense did a great job yesterday, if they barely touch Tom Brady that the Jets will win? I certainly don't. They need to HIT Brady early and often and the Jets DL is NOT meeting that criteria. So the defense MUST play better or else we have no chance.

Does anyone think that if the offense commits 3 turnovers against the Patsies that we'll win? I certainly don't. So the offense MUST play much better than they have at all this season.

Do I even need to mention the special teams? ST could cost the Jets the game all by it's lonesome. ST has been legitimately bad and yesterday was no exception. They MUST do a total 180 in order for the Jets to have a chance in this weekends game.

I'm not going to say this isn't possible. Of course it is. But it will take a monumental coaching job, one that hasn't been seen since about 2010.

The STs have been our weakness early on, with some horrendous coverage and non-existent returns. I did notice yesterday that at least the coverage part of it got much better. We pinned them consistently at 20 yard line or better on kickoffs. However, the blocked punt and near non-recovery of the ensuing onsides kick were terrible and need to be cleaned up ASAP. There is very little margin of error when playing the best teams in the NFL, and stuff like those plays will get you beat. Bobby April was an excellent STs coach years ago, but I read that his most recent coaching gigs have not been all that successful. Hopefully he and STs get their act together, or his tenure may be short in Florham Park.

One thing we haven't seen with Chan & Fitz in NY is something they did in BUFF together, and it goes right towards taking the top off of the D.

*We haven't shown too many tricks on Offense
*We have Ivory pounding
*It sets it up perfectly for the Pats

the Flea Flicker. you heard it here first, brethren!

This is a marquee game if there is one this early. The #1 scoring offense and #2 total offense vs the number #1 scoring defense and total defense. Who gets to play their game? I hope Bowles has a game plan for each half. That's the only way to beat Belichick.

If we come out flat, slow, sluggish however you choose to describe our start we're in trouble. If the Jets can't get up for this game from the start, we've got a ways to go. If we don't get a turnover from Brady we're in trouble. If we give up more than 24 points we're in trouble.

Someone other our triplets: Marshall, Decker, & Ivory will Have to play big. The Pats Will find a way to contain them. I'd like to see how the Jets plan on containing Edelman, Gronk, Amendola, Blount, & Lewis. I would show blitz but back off in coverage. Let our front create the pressure to move Brady off his spots. On offense, we know they're stacking the box to stop Ivory. We need a short passing game to keep them off balance, sustain drives, get six instead of three, and keep Brady off the field. We also need a couple of extra possessions. Throw some kind of gadget play in at the right time. We can't match them score for score. Our defense or our special teams needs to score in this game.

Skop, and Atljet60 are in agreement that a gadget play is the way to go. Might not be a bad idea, but I think lil Bill will be ready for it.

Yeah they are going to jam the box against Ivory. Way to get them out of the box quickly, IMO, is to get Owusu upfield early.

Watch out for 1 or 2 of the classic Belicheat trick plays designed to embarrass the opposing team and head coach. He loves to do this to opposing teams to break confidence and put them on their heels...

IMO thats too high. I could see 6 or 7, but 9.5 is a slap in the face.

Don't think it's coming down

Huge game. Man, is it huge!

Well we matched our win total from last year already

As of this evening the Jets are ranked #1 in rushing #1 in total defense. We're successful in just what we strive to do: run the ball and play solid defense.

I love this, the old days was the formula to win it all!

Vegas doesn't trust Fitz...

I think they just don't think the Jets are in that class ,,,,,,,,,,yet

Glad to see this up. And we have a chance in this one. Can't wait to see the plan.:hand-clapping-smile

Agree with it all,
But one major problem is "we're" stepping up in class
Going from $15,000 claimer to Grade 1 Stakes
Let's see if It's our time!
Go Jets!!!!

I don't think we should make it our identity for the game, but I think our identity will allow that play to be run.
