All Mangini's players that went 4-12 in 2007?? Here's a question for you in 1998 the Jets were 12-4 and went to the AFCCG ..Vinny was hurt in game one in 1999 and they started 1-6.what was missing?? Good QB play that got turned around when Ray Lucas who was in Parcells system since NE. Yes Mangini who lost the only playoff game he was in with the team Herm Edwards left him for the exception of Revis,Harris,Brick and Mangold who were Tanny's best picks ever as GM.. And Mangini had Chad and Farve what great QB's did Rex have?

Bowles has been left a pretty dam good D made even better with Revis back and the fine draft that Mac had.
And Decker,Powell and Ivory were both here already. Yes Rex was far from perfect and has a long way to go before I can consider him a good all around NFL HC. However here's a few little Jet facts that people forget. Weeb had just 3 winning seasons in 11 years as Jet HC and for 9 of them he had a decent QB you may have heard of him.. Since then how many Jet HC's have made back to back AFCCG's and had the Number 1 Defense and lead the NFL in rushing?? BTW While Mangini had both Chad and Favre, Marrone had Orton who retired after last season.. Like many people know how did BB as great as he is do before Brady??

All fair points, though my main issue with Rex is that whether he had a QB or not, He does not instill discipline within a team. He does not hold players accountable by any stretch.

His 1st two seasons the majority were hold overs from the Mangini years in which if any one was out of line, he made sure he made examples out of them. Rex never did that. Thus you would have an average of 12 penalties per game from '11 til '14. Players missed meetings then werent repremnaded.

I honestly think that is all he would need to reach the next level. But again, it is hard to teach old dogs new tricks.

It's hard to judge stuff like this, but Bill Parcells said, "you are what your record say's you are".

So regardless of all the talk that's ever come out of Rex Ryan's mouth, he's a high paid loser.

The Bills beating the Colts is a big deal to a lot of people, but New England has beaten Luck every time in 4 games by 189 - 73...that's not even competitive!

Ok I understand the Rex hate when fans post stuff about Rex's Jet teams so lets make a deal.. I'll post what I found and you post facts also and not something from a media person..

Go check out penalties per year for teams here.. https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/penalties-per-game?date=2015-02-01

And then here for the penalty avg of a NFL team which is here.. http://www.sportingcharts.com/articles/nfl/how-many-penalties-in-an-nfl-game-on-average.aspx

One of the worst teams every year is the Seahawks and some years Rex had less the BB's Pats..

In essence your stating that Rex had his teams disciplined every week.

Fact: Santonio Holmes was named a captain (Rex decision)

fact: Geno Smith was not disciplined for missing a team meeting in San Diego.

fact: Rex flipping the bird in plain sight at an MMA event. (public to see)

Fact: Rex on the front and back page for all the wrong reasons in his tenure here post '09 & '10 seasons.

Fact: Rex Clueless on what goes on on offense.

Fact: Rex enjoys placing unwarranted pressure on his football team (i.e "We're going to win the Superbowl")

Some times statistics don't demonstrate the realism of why penalties occur when they occur. When the coach is outlandish & carries himself like he could care less about being repremanded, the team normally follows.

It's all good to be a Rex apologist, but the facts are real. His teams, once he molds them to what he wants it to be, are wreck-less, undisciplined and are a horror show to watch.

Now there's that Rex hate everyone loves..LOL I'm not a apologist did I not post and I quote; Yes Rex was far from perfect and has a long way to go before I can consider him a good all around NFL HC. The real reason some get mad at me is because I don't fall and line and hate him.. However as bad as he is he did quite a bit more then most Jet HC's in Jet history and that pisses people off to no end..:smiley-angry037:

My bad my dude. I didn't mean to snap at ya.

Pathetic as it is i actually liked Todd but the avatar isn't Fitz either. It's actually Bryce Petty. Before we even drafted him. Some one edited his collegiate uniform to the Jets one and left the number.

As far as Rex, you bring up excellent points. Yes, the big one is that he brought us to two straight AFCCG's. I think that is huge. But a big knock on him is that once he took hold of the Locker room and players began to see that it was permissible to do anything, then i felt it was a free for all. It was evident on the field of play from 2011 to last year.

I personally think he will do great this year. Though i feel the subsequent campaigns to come will showcase if he has learned from his mistakes here in New York. Just going to add that if he does instill a no none sense approach, he can be one of the best coaches in the league.

Does anyone else notice a BIG DIFFERENCE in how the media treats Rex now that he's in Buffalo and not with the Jets?

With the Jets they treated him like a clown, but now, in Buffalo, the media is acting like he's Vince Lombardi.

Huge difference.

And people actually think there is a pro-NY and pro-Jets bias in the media.

My theory on this is that the Jets are covered differently than any other NFL team because they are the only team that is number 2 in their home market. In Buffalo, all of the local market supports the Bills, but in NY, half the local market wants the Jets to fall flat. They look for reasons to be negative. I don't think any other team has to fight that type of bias in local coverage and it bleeds over into the national coverage.

I may be off base, but I think we are covered differently.

Back on the old scout board, I expressed the exact same idea. Basically, every other team has cheerleaders for local media. The Jets, on the other hand, get ripped on by the national media, especially for being a New York team, and they get ripped on in the NY market because they aren't the establishment team, the Giants.

Therefore, SOJ and LOLJets. Anything good they do is a fluke, anything bad they do is typical Jets.

100% correct and the Islanders even in their winning years never got the love the Rangers did and same with Mets/Yanks coverage..

I liked Rex when he was here, but Bills fans are gonna find out that he talks a bigger game than his teams play.

You listen to him talk and you think he's coaching the 85 Bears, then they go out and, well, its not the 85 Bears.

This Bills fans will learn that over time and today they got their first indication, talked smack all week then the Patriots walked into Ralph Wilson Stadium and hung 40/500+ yards of total offense on them, the ultimate STFU!!

When you look at Jets history with HC's it's not a pretty picture.. There have been just 3 HC's in Jet history with a winning record, the Tuna,Al Groh and Hermie and the last 2 did it with the team the Tuna built along with the 4 first rd picks in 2000.. One of my favorite coaches was Walt Michael's his record was 2 winning years in 6 seasons and made a AFCCG where the Jets scored no points and he was canned.. And of course Weeb who had 3 wining seasons in 11 years but won a bowl with some might say the best QB of all the Jet HC's except for young fans that love Vinny or Chad.. So to sum it up I'm really excited we have Mac and Bowles who I think have the team on the right track and there will be plenty of horse meat to feed your dogs with after the Monday night game..:)

I'm impressed by Buffalo's offense. I know they put up most of the points in garbage time but they kept battling. If the offense is as good as they have been the last two games then they are a force to be reckoned with. Unfortunately, the Pats are still the team to beat.
