Rex is going to be very good in Buffalo at first. It will very much mirror what happened here.

The danger he runs is in bringing in too many players from his time with the Jets. Part of the magic of his message of optimism is that it is a new message to these players. His rah-rah antics and undying loyalty will make players love playing for him. But the more players get to know him, the more they will recognize that he does not demand much from them, and that his loyalty is contrary to accountability.

BB brought Giant Players to the Browns, the Tuna brought ex players to both the Jets and the Cowboys. But it's just Rex right??

No, it's not just Rex who brings in his own guys. That isn't AT ALL what I said.

What I said was that with Rex, familiarity breeds complacency, and players who have played for him before know he is not a taskmaster. Look at how lazy the Jets got in years 3 and 4 under Rex, how little accountability there was, how undisciplined they were. Of course, if you want to argue that Belichick and Parcells were both "players' coaches," go ahead. But I doubt that would hold much water.

Like when he inherited the Jets the Bills were 9 - 7.
Taylor certainly has talent and that will go nicely until one of Taylor's ACL goes thisaway and his MCL goes thataway. Next year the Bills will be 7 - 9 while working the Ryan magic toward 4 - 12.

Rex will do good this year due to the fact that the team he is fielding have been conditioned with an over abundance of discipline by his predecessor in Doug Marrone. As was the case here in NY. The team he took over in '09 were all Mangini's players that took on accountability. As the years wore on and the locker room culture began to change with absolute no punishment to players that held back the team, we started losing games not by actual physical talent but by dumb mental mistakes.

I wish Rex well, but it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks. Only a matter of time until Buffalo starts to look like the 2011-2014 New York Jets.

All Mangini's players that went 4-12 in 2007?? Here's a question for you in 1998 the Jets were 12-4 and went to the AFCCG ..Vinny was hurt in game one in 1999 and they started 1-6.what was missing?? Good QB play that got turned around when Ray Lucas who was in Parcells system since NE. Yes Mangini who lost the only playoff game he was in with the team Herm Edwards left him for the exception of Revis,Harris,Brick and Mangold who were Tanny's best picks ever as GM.. And Mangini had Chad and Farve what great QB's did Rex have?

Bowles has been left a pretty dam good D made even better with Revis back and the fine draft that Mac had.
And Decker,Powell and Ivory were both here already. Yes Rex was far from perfect and has a long way to go before I can consider him a good all around NFL HC. However here's a few little Jet facts that people forget. Weeb had just 3 winning seasons in 11 years as Jet HC and for 9 of them he had a decent QB you may have heard of him.. Since then how many Jet HC's have made back to back AFCCG's and had the Number 1 Defense and lead the NFL in rushing?? BTW While Mangini had both Chad and Favre, Marrone had Orton who retired after last season.. Like many people know how did BB as great as he is do before Brady??

Savage, if ryan took a HC job in the NFC i would be completely rooting for him as long as that weeks win didn't affect the jets adversely..

i had little to know doubt year 1 would be successful in buffalo even with their murky QB situation..

can ryan take the next step as a HC is my question.. we saw this movie year 1 & 2 with the jets..

do you have a next gear rex??

When Pete Carroll was the Pats HC he never had a losing season and made the playoffs his first 2 years..With the same team QB and all BB went 5-11 year 1. In year 2 he started out 0-2 but in that 2nd loss to the Jets Mo Lewis took out Bledsoe and the rest as they say is history.. The 2 HC's of the top of my head that did the best with so-so QB's are the Tuna and Joe Gibbs.. And I can throw in Billick with Dilfer and Shula with Woodley but most of his other QB's like Unitas,Griese and Marino are in the HOF.. As a Jet fan I would always want the other team to win who ever is playing the Pats. My problem with Jet fans is they treat Rex like he was worse then Kotite and I just try to even the score with a touch of sanity..LOL

Rex did great in years 1 & 2, and most of us loved his 'out there' personality and bravado... In the later years when things went bad and his bluff and bluster continued and his seeming inability to deal with it were displayed, a lot of us became disenchanted. That's life....

And that's it in a nut shell it was his personality that people hate.. If they said that I wouldn't have a problem with them.. Rex sounds like a Fan as a HC and everyone knows fans are plain nuts..LOL

anyone attempting to be credible will not lump ryan & kotite together..

again, my question is, has rex learned anything since 2009-2010..

we will find out, BTW..

Well he's starting a 6th rd pick instead of the 1st round pick of the Bills in 2013 so that's different.. Maybe since BB got lucky with his 6th rd pick Rex thinks it can happen for him.. :i-dont-know-smiley-

If I knew the future I would be playing the lottery.. I do know this much if he doesn't the Bills will be his last HC gig..

Mangini's players from 2008... Ryan took over in 2009. Jenkins, Woody, Richardson, Faneca, Pace... Ryan's downfall was a lot more than his mouth. once his quality staff went their separate ways( Pettine, Westhoff, Callahan), the team discipline went with them. Ryan's meddling in personnel decisions(wanted and raved about Mason which cost us Cotchery, pushing for Holmes, etc)hurt as well. All one has to do is read the book Collision Low Crossers, and it's plain to see that the team was headed for a steep decline after the 2010 season. the book also showed coaches questioning Ryan's decision making, and if he cared more about being a star then a coach. he also had a tendency to play injured players at the detriment of the rest of the team(see Cro in 2013 among others), and was too stubborn to adjust his defensive scheme to fit the personnel that he had in later years. he acted as if Revis was here the entire time. he seems like a great guy, but just not cut out for the big chair. wants everyone to like him, could care less about the offense, and fosters an environment that breeds complacency.

Kris Jenkins played a total of 7 games in 2 years for Rex he was always hurt.. Faneca played just one year after Jets cut him he was done as was Woody who never played again for anyone. Cotchery wanted out way before Mason he didn't want to be behind Braylon and Holmes.. Westoff wanted out because with the rule changes he felt ST were no longer fun to coach.. Now IMO I would have made Callahan the OC I did like him allot.. My point has never been Rex didn't have problems he certainly did on the offensive side of the ball especially.. I just don't agree that Mangini was a better HC who never won a playoff game and then went to the Browns had two 5-11 seasons and was canned.. Mangini had Chad and Favre as his QB's Rex had Sanchez and Geno any fair Jet fan would say Mangini had the better QB's..
