Answer: Leonard Williams

Stock watch: Jets Leonard Williams displays 'nose' for Quarterback

Leonard Williams, Nose Tackle:

Yeah, that's right, nose tackle. Projected starter Steve McLendon (sore toe) got the night off, so Williams handled the nose tackle duties on the first series -- the only series for the starting defense. Last year's first-round pick made a big play, a third-down sack that forced the Jaguars to settle for a field goal. Defensive coordinator Kacy Rodgers said he's looking for ways to get the Big Three on the field at the same time -- Williams, Sheldon Richardson and Muhammad Wilkerson, who didn't play the opener. This is one option: Williams on the nose, with Richardson and Wilkerson at end.

This is an interesting development.

A lot of us have been wondering how we get all three of the BIG 3 on the field at the same time in the base 3-4. If thats gonna happen, one of them has to play the nose in the 3-4, now we know which one.

Leo is listed at 6' 5"/302, but he looks bigger and stronger too me this year. I'll bet you he's at least 315.

Hopefully it works. I can't remember the last time we made someone play out of position and it worked. We screwed up Shaun Ellis, Quinton Coples, I'm sure there are others I am forgetting.

Dwight Lowery.
Terrible mistake not recognizing he was always a Free Safety & trying to shoehorn him into a CB role.
Since leaving NJ, he's gone on to have a fairly productive career as a FS - albeit in multiple cities. ((3) JAX, (1) ATL, (1) INDY, & SD this season).
He's no Ed Reed but he is a decent tackler and aside from 2012-2013 he's been mostly healthy.
Career: (16) INTs, (59) p.d., (335) tackles, (5) sacks, (3) TDs, (7) FF.
He had maybe his best season in 2015 with (76) tackles, (4) INTs, (1) sack, & (1) TD.

I love this. Let the three of them split reps at nose tackle to get them all on the field. I think all 3 can do it in limited reps and has to be better than sheldon at olb.

I still think the question we should have asked was, "Why is there a nose tackle at all?" They had the talent, and the roster, to play a 4-3.

You think McClendon will make the team? I wonder? He's not young and just coming off an injury shortened season.

Well, that's the question I have also? This is another reason why Toilet sucks. He's so stubborn he'd rather bench good quality players or play them out of their native position than change his defensive philosophy. He was an idiot trying to play Sheldon at OLB. Not to mention their 1st round LB was a prototypical 4-3 linebacker.

But I've given up trying to figure out Toilet. At this point, I just know he sucks and should be fired asap for the sake of the team.
