Larry David thinks he can go from writing about nothing to helping Gang Green.
The Jets' next head coach need not worry about hiring any coordinators, because he’s got one big name ready and willing to take on the job. Comedian Larry David says he should be Gang Green’s next play caller.
“I think just with a little studying, I think I could be a tremendous offensive coordinator,” David said on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show. “And defensive coordinator. Yes, I see many things that I know I could fix.”
Some might think David might be able to insert a little humor into the stiff football world, but then again, the Jets’ offense is already pretty funny.
The “Seinfeld” co-creator and “Curb Your Enthusiasm” creator/star described himself as an “average football fan” but a big supporter of Gang Green. And not only would he bring his Jets fandom to the job, but he also has boatloads of experience in the field.
“When I was a kid and we used to play football in the parking lot, I would design very good plays,” David said.
“Why couldn’t I do that? Other people do it, why not me?” he added.
Though David was broadcasting his coordinator candidacy over the radio waves, perhaps he ought to have been phoning up Charley Casserly and Ron Wolf looking for the big job.
“By the way, as long as I'm doing offense and defense I think I could be a head coach,” he said.
