Thanks Mangold for Playing hard making our Jets better even helping all the many poor QB's you had to baby sit. I wished Jets would have gotten you a back up 2 years ago like I complained about to give you a rest & teach a rookie all the things needed to be good. But Jets GM is not very bright & doesnt realize that Center is the focal point making every Offensive play to work right. We will miss Mangold even though your skills have faded the last 2 years, you are still better than a Rookie. Jets should have had you trained someone 1 or 2 years ago. Mangold one of Jets greats at Center.

1. Train someone? Wesley Johnson is next man up, and obviously played well enough to become the next starter.

2. The Center is the focal point of the line? I'm going LT. There's a reason they're the highest paid o-linemen. They protect QB's from getting killed.

3. Nothing personal, but why do some fans always resort to the "like I said, I was right, that stupid GM should've listened to me" argument?

None of us are smarter than the vast majority of NFL GM's.

Nick did not want to leave. He said " he was blindsided " when told he was cut. I would bring him back as a player coach on a reasonable contract and make him a OL coach when it's time to retire.

I loved Mangold as much as any fan. But I don't think this cut was that shocking. He was due a lot of money, and this team is clearly rebuilding. If you make the decision to rebuild, you can't go half-ass. The Jets now have over 30 million in cap space, and a center in Wesley Johnson who showed he can handle the position.

Good luck, Nick. I hope you win a championship next year wherever you end up. You earned it.
