Would you be okay if the Jets did this on draft day?

Looking at the top 15 possible prospects to be drafted it looks like 5 Offensive Players to 10 Defensive Players will be the first 15 picks...

Arizona Cardinals with the 13th overall pick might want to jump up to acquire our 6th Overall pick, to grab 1 of those 5 Offensive Prospects (WR)

to make this transaction happen the Cardinals would have to give up their 13th, 45th, 119th & 2018 4th Round... {1st, 2nd, 4th & 2018 4th} (Projection either Corey Davis or Mike Williams)

the buck won't stop there then we double down this time to Maccagnan's former team the Houston Texans who hold the 25th Overall pick...

Houston Texans would pony up their 25th, 57th, 130th & 2018 4th Round {again 1st, 2nd, 4th & 2018 4th} (Projection QB DeShone Kizer)

The Jets wouldn't stand pat while again making another trade but this time out of the first round since there is technically NO prospect worth a team option 5th year...

Cleveland Browns have a plethora of picks so to likely re-enter the back end of the first round will give up their 33rd, 52nd & 139th(4th Compensatory)

So rehash the Jets would now have:

2nd - 33rd
2nd - own
2nd - 45th
2nd - 52nd
2nd - 57th

3rd - own
3rd - 107th Compensatory

4th - 119th
4th - 130th
4th - 139th

along with our 5th, 6th, 7th

This would not only allow us to rebuild with quality prospects but after 4 years we don't or aren't subjected to a balloon option for 5th year...

Mock Draft on those picks could look like this:

33rd: Pat Elflein, OC, Ohio State
39th: Cameron Sutton, CB, Tennessee
45th: Curtis Samuel, WR/RB, Ohio State
52nd: Roderick Johnson, OT, Florida State {LT}
57th: Gerald Everett, TE, South Alabama

70th: Rasul Douglas, CB, West Virginia
107th: Isaiah "Zay" Jones, WR, East Carolina

120th: Devonte Fields, DE/LB, Louisville
131th: Nazir Jones, DE/DT North Carolina
140th: Lorenzo James, SAF, St. Francis (PA)

150th: Sam Rogers, FB, Virginia Tech

191st: Elijah Hood, RB, North Carolina

224th: Joshua Dobbs, QB, Tennessee

Fills many vacancies not to mention any draft day or up to draft day trades... If we acquire another 2nd or 3rd can draft another OT Adam Bisnowaty from Pittsburgh, RB Wayne Gallman from Clemson, LB Alex Anzalone from Florida and/or CB Kevin King from Washington...

So would you be against these moves if our GM was creative enough to make it happen?

Conceptually I agree, and a lot of the pieces are good ones. It would take an enormous set of balls and a lot of luck to make that all happen. I'm also sure that there would be a huge uproar from certain elements of the media and fanbase, because we didn't pick "sure things" Fournette or Watson. Problem is they aren't sure things, and the Jets need so much that what you suggest is the best thing albeit not very sexy.

That's a pretty complicated haul, but I don't think we need to go to that extreme. If we trade back if want a first next year to set up a run at a franchise qb. I have a feeling that two first rounders next year, will be important.

If we had this many picks, it would all hinge on being right.

I wouldn't object to it. Although I don't see that many trades going down in one draft for one team.

This team needs an infusion of youth. But the scouting needs to be spot on. Quantity doesn't mean anything if you miss on 10 out of 13 picks.

Jets have seen a GM miss on close to a dozen picks in a draft.

With our history of 2nd rd selections... Heck no.... I rather trade down in the first grab an one extra 2nd. Trade Sheldon for a 3rd and 5th

I think we can trade our 6th to the Browns for their for their 12th in Rd1 and pick 52 in Rd2..... Trade Sheldon to the Raiders for the 88th pick 3rd rd and 168th pick 5th Rd... Leaving us to draft these guys

12th Pick - OT - Ryan Ramczyk Wisconsin
39th Pick - CB -
Quincy Wilson, Florida
52nd Pick - Edge Rusher - Tanoh Kpassagnon, Villanova
70th Pick - TE - Evan Engram - Ole Miss
88th Pick - C/G - Pat Elflien - Ohio St
107th Pick - ILB - Alex Anzalone, Florida
150th Pick - FS John Johnson - Boston College
168th Pick - RB - Donnel Pumphrey, San Diego State
191st Pick - T - Javarius Leamon - South Carolina State
224th Pick - SS - Xavier Woods - Louisiana tech

Like that group a lot with the exception of the edge guy from 'Nova. He's more like a 4-3 DE at 6-6" 290 lbs. How about TJ Watt there instead?

LOL TJ Watt was my first choice but looking at the board I think he'll be gone before 52. Actually I see him gone before 39 too. :(

I like the approach, but still would be cautious about seeing who this regime selected with all those acquired picks.

I would be fine with it, as an organizational philosophy, but I doubt it would happen. Far too many moving parts. Even deals that make sense often don't materialize if there are too many moving parts, or it gets too complex.

I don't know how many picks they'll have, but I sang this song in December.
Enjoy,

Santa Baby

Santa Baby, slip a QB under the tree, For me.
been an awful good fan, Santa baby,
so hurry down the chimney tonight.

Santa baby, bring a clutch receiver too,
I’m blue.
I'll wait up for you dear,
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight.

Think of all the fun we've missed,
Think of all the years that we’ve felt pissed,
Next year I could be just as good,
So just check things off my wishing list,

Sandy baby, I want a pass rushing stud,
And not one just good,
Been an angel all year,
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight.

Sandy baby, forgot to mention one little thing,
Some bling.
You know I’m talkin’ some Super Bowl rings.
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight,
Hurry down the chimney tonight,
Hurry, tonight.

I dont like Jets trading back for many reasons gmf. First Jets GM has Drafted awful except for Williams who was the 1 ranked player in Draft & fell to Jets at 6th. Top 10 are easier to get right than 2nd round like MM did last year taking a 6th round pick in 2nd round. Jets are in need of all positions & game changers are in top 6 we need like a sacking pass rusher or a beast RB like Cowgirls got. So I hope MM keeps the pick & Drafts the best player ranked & if he wants to trade positions, trade away 2nd or 3rd round for extra picks in those rounds. KEEP THE FIRST!

gmf, I read your mock. Good solid picks. I rather Jets trade their first pick with a bad team known to be bad next year & get their first round pick next year & their second round pick this year. That gives Jets 2 first round picks in top 10 next year & a 2nd round this year. Better chance of getting the QB we want next year or even draft 2 first round QB's in top 10! Thats the better idea. But trading away our 6th pick for 2 or 3 2nd picks isnt helping us. Lets focus on getting a bad teams first next year & their 2nd this year. Thats how I'd roll for Mikey because it will take him 2 first to even have a chance of getting the QB right.

Scotch, Thats a great idea!!! Wait...JETS dont have any players or picks worth any effin value!!! Mikey Mac says...Hey lets trade our top pick in first round for lower round picks.... great idea if you are winning super bowls and have the LAST PICK IN FIRST ROUND like the Boston Panties ! Belly Check trades out of first round a lot, & thats easy with the last pick every year in the first round. You can bet if Pats had a 6th pick they wouldnt trade it for more picks in round 2 or 3 .

I would rejoice at a plan like this. Even it's a smaller version of it. Chances are our 'second round curse' would be broken. At least I hope it would! Under your plan, Mac MUST get the following;

Starters;
  • Center
  • Cornerback
  • Tight End
  • #1 Receiver
  • ILB - unless we sign Hightowner
  • Kick/Punt Returner
Backup/Future Starters
  • LT
  • Cornerback
  • Running Back
  • Placekicker
  • OLB
Projects
  • QB
  • RB
  • ILB
It's interesting to me to see people say 'this could never happen!" so let's not even discuss it! How silly!
