Just answering your reply.
Is it a red flag that we released Marshall? Or that Cincinnati didn't re sign Whitmore? Sometimes it's not a fit, plus with having to manage cap room, business decisions have to be made. I don't think that's a red flag.

the thread is about a LB just reaching his prime, after an 11 sack season hitting FA.. not about how & why other players find themselves FAs..

the 11 sacks last season damn near matched his four year career numbers for sacks..

from the the outside looking in, i asked myself, did the packers think he half assed it until it was time to play for a big contract?? was that why they allowed perry to hit FA?? well, as we both now know, the only reason perry was on the market was because of a clause written into his contract.. period..

we know this because green bay didn't waste a nanosecond reportedly working out a long term deal..

so it turns out there was no red flag.. just a formality..

I know what the thread is about,I was answering your question.

My understanding with Marshall is that mixed stories have come out. I believe the Jets offered him a2 year extension wroth no pay cut, then released him outright. Marshall also said he wanted to stay, but I know boomer was telling him in private to go to a contender.

Yes Perry made free agency as a technicality, the Jets were trying to entice him away. We know how that ended.

Perhaps a similar situation would be snacks leaving for the giants. A guy who came from nothing and was built by rex, had a great contact year and we never wrapped him up. Giants proved he wasn't a2 down player. But him not being signed by the Jets, and allowing him to hit the market wasn't a red flag.

I get what you are saying BUT we didn't just release Brandon Marshall as a business move he asked to be released kinda different...

and on the Whitmore thing:

& yet this post is almost exclusively about other FAs & how & why the signed elsewhere?? i've certainly done my part in clarifying i was discussing perry's situation & his situation only..

you're acknowledging perry reaching FA was nothing more than a technicality but continue to feign ignorance of my point & why i came to it.. all the way down to i acknowledged it turned out not to be a red flag at all..
