The Patriots are going for it all while Brady still has some life left in that arm. I've never seen NE go this aggressive in FA. That's a great pick up for them, but a steep price.

They are totally selling the long-term future for the short-term. It's a good organizational strategy with a Brady that's nearing the end. They have dealt away, what, a first, second, and a third in the past 24 hours?
Tough to blame them for selling out the future to try to win as many titles as they can before Brady is too old. It may also suggest they are looking to dump Garoppolo, and are completely writing off the future.

Ealy is 25 and Cooks is 23 and probably nobody in those draft picks will be half the players those two are and they haven't hit their prime.
Agree, its a good strategy for the short term particularly if you are trading away JimmyG. But it all goes up in smoke without Brady, so if he tears a knee in first game all of the dealing is for naught.

Rumor on the Patriots espn page is that they are discussing trading Malcolm butler for a first round pick, possibly their own pick back from the saints. The Patriots are having a dominate offseason.

If they get a first rounder out of a mediocre starting CB who was coached up to make one amazing play, they really must have blackmail evidence on every other team in the league. That would be a ridiculous deal.
That's a good point. Those guys are young, so that is a part of the equation.

The problem is, Patriots fans have only been Patriots fans since 2001. They don't know what it is like to actually suffer.
Before Mo Lewis hit Bledsoe, the Pats were just a way Bostonians killed the time between when the Sawx were eliminated and when pitchers and catchers reported. Now, suddenly, they all wear Pats hats and jerseys, and if you believe them, the old steel bleachers at Sullivan Stadium must have fit in 700,000 fans every Sunday. I guess that's why they almost moved to both St. Louis and Hartford.
He certainly made an important play, but I believe he was their top corner this year, and is held in high regard.

He is held in high regard, but I think he's overrated. Put him on another team, and he's not considered elite. He's viewed as elite because he has Elvis on his helmet.

How do you survive around all those Pats fans in Massachusetts? They must be insufferable.
Relocated. Now in Connecticut. While it's predominantly a mix of Giants and Pats, there are some Jets fans. The Polish club in our town did a bus trip to a Jets game this past year, so I'm in at least contested friendly territory.
At least it's not universally Pats fans. That was the worst. Provincial, one-team areas are the worst, and I have lived both in solidly New England and solidly Philly areas. They will never understand what it is like in the NY market, where you have competing teams in every sport.
