We then draft the best free safety on the board and go best CB available in the second round. We are in desperate need of a pass rusher, which would actually instantly improve our secondary play.
Absolutely not. Williams is a proven stud....... jarrett could be,,,,or could be another Demontre Moore........ Lets see what Greene can do with Mauldin
I would give Mo and a 3rd for Garrett. Problem is this organization would end up drafting someone else.
Problem is, nobody would take Mo and his contract and a low third for the projected number one player in a draft that is said to be deep. Geez, the Jets tried to trade Mo last year because of his asking price , and there were no takers. We have no outside pass rush, and we are deep in players who's primary talent is to stop the run. That really puts a big hurt on our secondary , in case no one has noticed.
& you're asking cleveland to give up taking the most explosive edge rusher in the draft, for at this point, a promising all around defensive lineman & a afterthought 3rd rounder??Problem is, nobody would take Mo and his contract and a low third for the projected number one player in a draft that is said to be deep. Would never do this, in part because I think you deal Richardson. Dealing Williams in addition would be eliminating one of the few positions of strength on the team.
Do you mean Myles Garrett? The defensive lineman from Texas A&M?
Trading Leonard Williams is never going to happen. He's the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree for the Jets. He's got star potential, already proven as a run stuffer and expected to improve as a pass rusher with some seasoning. He and Mo are entrenched for a while on this team.
I hear your concerns about a pass rushing LB. I've been saying this for years. But this is not the draft for that player, so we're gonna have to hope Mauldin makes a jump this year.
I'm talking in terms of dealing an actual tradable commodity. Good luck in getting anything of like value for Richardson with his baggage.
My point was not about comparable value between Richardson and Williams. My point was that if you trade Richardson, as they should, and then you trade Williams, you now have a hole at DE, which had been their best position.
I understand your point Sack, but my argument is , if you tried to trade Richardson , and let's keep in mind his contract year , we'd be lucky to get a bag of peanuts in return.
Yes , I do mean Myles Garrett. As much as I love Williams , think we have too many of the same type ( big run stuffers ) that we can part with our most tradable commodity to get the best edge rusher in the draft, who BTW can also play the run. Not trying to dis you by any means Blindside, but think an edge rusher is a huge need here in Jet Nation.

Absolutely not. There's other ways to get a rusher in this draft and keep our best player. We then draft the best free safety on the board and go best CB available in the second round. We are in desperate need of a pass rusher, which would actually instantly improve our secondary play.
