Just curious what is your take on the absolute needs of this team

Love the pick of Howard, but not at 6.... That would be a waste. based on every mock I have seen, Howard could be had somewhere between 17 and 32? Now, if Mac traded down and still got Howard at say 15? I would be ecstatic with that..........

The TE position has changed in the NFL and the value placed on premium TEs is also changing. Howard is an awesome talent and his value to a team like the Jets might warrant a #6 pick. This would be particularly true if we go with a young QB.

Way too high.

Qb is always priority 1, but is separate from the rest of the priorities.

Next is cb1 and cb2, playmaker on offense, edge rusher, offensive line depth, safety/te.

Draft strategy wouldn't be dictated by this list because if you think Lattimore is an injury risk, there isn't another cb I'd draft at 6. If you really love a qb, you must take him.

If you don't love either qb, I'd get a playmaker rb or elite wr. I think either safety is a waste at 6 unless you really believe they are game changers.

My bet on likely picks at 6 if we don't trade back are:
Watson,qb
Fournette,rb
Edge rusher
Depending on what's left when we pick.

Agree. I think the TE position is underrated. OJ Howard has great size, catches just about everything, and is also a very good run blocker. Complete TE. I think the Jets can use a player like that. If you put the position aside and simply asked "who are the best players in this draft?", OJ Howard would be in the conversation.

i hear what you're saying but i can't get my head around drafting a TE at 6 with a OK roster much less a terrible one..

if we go skill position at 6, i would like to see us go with whoever the WR is, the college football guys here like with that pick..

All that aside, the Jets are so devoid of actual talent. At least they haven't wasted money and signed anyone of significance. They won't even be competitive next year and 0-16 is definitely a possibility. The only hope is they can stockpile draft picks either through trading some of their talent like Sheldon or well there is actually nobody else worth a shit on the team other than Williams and he is who they need to build the team around. Luckily he is younger than most players coming out this year so there are many years left on his body. Everyone should just sit back and have zero expectations for 3-5 years and the Jets better hope the fans stick around. The front office has put this organization in this position. The Jets are going to be an embarrassment the next two years. They are the Browns now minus the cap space or draft picks.

A complete shit and wasted year is exactly what this team needs. I myself will not enjoy next season but I am hoping there is some silver lining in all this mess.

The Jets are not going 0-16, and they do have some talent on this team. Zero expectations for 3-5 years? I think it'll be much better much sooner than that.

I will bet they come real close. They will have the worst record in the NFL next year which is not a bad thing.

I like the Jake Butt pick in the 2nd, but I'm not too confident in any of these QB's projected in the 1st round. I'd rather roll with our young guys, and probably have a shot at some better QB prospects next year in the 1st round.

As long as we don't screw it up and not suck enough.

I am never confident about using a high pick on a QB, but I feel that's a gamble you have to take? We already know Petty is not ready. I can't see any way Hack is ready, especially when they called him a "project" around draft time. When you label a player as a "project", that normally intimates a period longer than two seasons? McCown is not the future and we all know that.

So I would like to take a QB. Not sure where? But I know I like what I saw from Deshaun Watson. Seems like quite an intelligent young man. Overall, I know what you're saying, but once again I just can't see going into this season with an injury waiting to happen and two guys that are not ready to start?

Well, he has been rising up draft charts recently. It bears watching. I was just really hoping the Jets can trade down and still get a player in the 1st round that they truly covet/BPA. The team has so many needs and there's a lot of value in the 2nd round IMO.

I think this Tubisky talk is a smoke screen to get someone to trade up to us.. So I agree with you and I think we will be trading down.

Well I think that we're set at Long Snapper, everything else is up in the air though...

We have a lot of needs, but as Maccganan pointed out on the radio a few weeks back, they're hoping some young guys make a jump this year into more prominent roles. Some names that were mentioned were Shell at RT, Jenkins and Lee at LB, Peake and Anderson at WR, and Burris are CB. If you get a few of these players to make progress this year, it's not as dire of a situation as people are making it out to be.

There seems to be a tendency to paint the picture a lot darker than what it really is. Obviously it could be a very ugly year if none of the youth steps up. But until we actually see the product on the field, we really can't assume anything. Some people seem to think they've got Hackenberg already figured out (like Greenberg on Mike and Mike), but how does anyone really know that? This early, there's a lot of reading the tea leaves going on. Despite Macc making it clear that Hack was a project, there's been a barrage of assumptions that the Jets blew the pick.

Agreed... and it's not a stretch based on what we saw from Shell, Peake, Burris, Anderson, Jenkins (who graded out pretty well) and Lee that they will progress. We saw progress all year from where they started to where they finished from all of them. And we can feel ok about saying Mo will have a bounce back year and Williams keeps ascending from a pro-bowl player to a dominant all-pro player..... Our question mark is and has been for a longtime, can we find a Franchise QB? Cause I feel like if we do that than it's a whole other conversation.

I think we need a weapon to help or future qb,in the first round. If that's hack petty or darnold, they will need a true weapon to take the heat off a little. To me that's cook or fournette. Cb in second, o line in 3rd.
