Schefter reporting Claiborne to the Jets.

I am not surprised. I saw the Ravens landed Brandon Carr, so I thought Claiborne to the Jets was inevitable.

Always injured, but for a one year deal who cares. The Ravens are stupid for signing Carr to 4 year deal.

4 years is a long contract for a 31 year old player who's past his prime. I wanted Carr as a stopgap, but I was thinking a 2 year deal.
If they paid much more than the veteran minimum and he gets hurt in week two then it's a waste. The problem is he will get injured for sure.

He is injury prone. He has not played well except for 7 games in his career. If he was cheap then no harm.

If Claiborne had gone to NE, those dopes on NFL Network would be praising the move for sure. But the Jets are gambling on an injury prone player who will probably fail.
That's the narrative.
Both of these players are getting high marks across the board. I can't remember the last time two safeties were rated this high. I think the Jets would do well getting either one of them. After watching the video on Hooker, I think I'm leaning towards him. He's that prototypical free safety with a ball hawkish mentality. Our defense doesn't create enough turnovers.
I really don't think signing Claiborne reduces the need for Mac to find his #1 corner. Now if Mac drafts Tabor or Lattimore, nabs Peppers in the second round AND Claiborne stay healthy, you've got yourself a decent defense.
I agree with you about the #1 corner, But this signing puts more of an emphasis on FS being the biggest need of Defense in my opinion.

Has the contract been signed?? For some reason I feel like the Cowboys would have signed him for that amount.
