Wouldn't be surprised to see a match here. He's a decent QB. If the kids fall on their faces, he'd keep things from going completely off the tracks. I just hope they don't have a competition and let him beat them out. That wouldn't serve much of a purpose. We need to find out about BOTH Petty and Hack this coming season.
Although at that point, I'm sure we'd all like to see the team just mail it in and get the #1 pick. 5-11 doesn't do us any good.
Was gonna say, I don't think McCown has 5-11 in him with our group.Well then we are in luck because he is 2-20 over last 22.

Talk about a guy with a ton of talent. It's sad that Cutler is such an ahole, that nobody wants him as a backup.Yeah I think Cutler is last in just about everyone's list.
Vacchiano reporting the sides (McCown and Jets) are progressing towards a deal. Despite not having met with Cutler yet.
McCown is the main guy i want to teach Petty and Hackenberg the nuances of the game and how proffesionalism carries you a long way.
Sure he's a journey man, but he's a tough player who leaves it out on the field. He's a QB that you actually root for.
Came across this video and thought what a great person this guy is to have in this rebuilding locker room. Leader that the young kids can learn from.
Terrible player. He's the Brian Scalibrine (sp?) of the NFL. I'd rather roll the dice with Hackenberg and Petty. At least we know they can improve. McCown is already a finished turd.
This nonsense about having someone show you the ropes to be a professional is bogus too. If you have a good head on your shoulders you'll know how to carry yourself in the locker room
Well, you might get your wish. Latest report is McCown left without a deal.
i'm still holding out hope, maccagnan has a clue.. if he wants an unnamed veteran JAG QB to start, i'm done with him..I think that is good news. I know many disagree but I don't think Mac and Bowles are looking at any of the free agent QBs to just be veteran backups. They want them to start. That in itself speaks volumes on the development of our two young QBs but I still rather have them out there than some washed up player who has a track record of not being very good.
Josh McCown's teams have received the #1 pick in two of the last three seasons, and the #2 pick in the other year. In his 12* years as a QB, his teams have had a top five pick 6 times.
• Arizona Cardinals (2002–2005) - 3rd pick in 2004 draft.
• Detroit Lions (2006) - 2nd pick in 2007 draft
• Oakland Raiders (2007) - 4th pick in 2008 draft
• Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2014) - 1st pick in 2015 draft
• Cleveland Browns (2015–2016) - 2nd pick in 2016 draft, 1st pick in 2017 draft
Besides Byron Scott, is there a better tank commander in sports?
*Although he has been in the league 14 years, he only took snaps at QB in 12 of those years. 2006 he lined up at WR a few times and in 2010 he played for the Hartford Colonials.
