The tone and mood of this call are very disturbing. He sounds like he is battle weary and concerned about his job, and the non-answers were worse than usual. This organization is adrift. Seems like they are wandering though an automobile junkyard, throwing random parts of old cars into the back of their pickup truck, hoping they can build a car that runs from the bits and pieces they accumulate.
Woody has probably read the riot act to Mike and Todd (likely more than once in recent months), and they both are poised to be kicked out after this season.

I've just about given up on this team, after nearly 50 years. I'm too old to worry about this crap anymore, and feeling bad every Sunday afternoon is not what I want to be doing at my age.

Same old Jets...

LOL.... He sounded the same exact way on his first press conference as the Jets GM...He has always been a non-answer type of guy....

I actually enjoyed the CC.

He was non-commital on giving Josh McCown the starting job. Meaning all positions must be earned. If Hack strivesthis off season, OTA's and training camp as he will be given every opportuunity to do so, then so be it. Couldnt care less on what Manish or any BS outlet says about Christian. His play will determine his value.

Liked the fact that he is adamantly trying to trade down from 6th.

Apparently we're at $12.5 remaining with the salary cap. $8 mil of course will go to rookies leaving the Jets with $4.5 to play with, that is unless Sheldon is traded, freeing up another $8Mil.

Also, Zach Brown MLB from Buffalo hopefully may come for a visit next week. That may spell the end for David Harris, which may free up another $6mil.

Remember also that if Revis signs with another team, the value of his 2017 salary is offset against our cap.

I do say this I was high on the cuts but the pickups I am down on. We can cut but can he build

That is a legit question. He showed the guts to make the tough cuts. Now, can he stick with a plan to make the team younger for the long-term future? And does that plan involve strategic free agents, like Claiborne?

Not to sound like a Maccagnan apologist, but what exactly should he be doing differently? He has done the dirty work of unloading expensive, past their prime players who don't fit the transition phase we're in. I think most fans would agree that going after high priced FA's wasn't a smart route right now either for a team 2-3 years away.

So what's left? You can't put a team of 1-2 year players and undrafted FA's out on the field to get destroyed every week and have 13 people show up at MetLife. So you go bargain shopping in FA, take a chance on players like Claiborne and Beachum, and build the foundation with draft picks.

Nobody said it was an ideal situation to be in. But it's what successful teams have done in the past when building their teams up.

Very true, though whom ever signs Revis, knowing that we will pay the difference will offer him the league minimum.

I have to disagree. This is what a rebuild looks like, new York fans are spoiled in general, and don't have the patience for a rebuild.

I agree with your disagreement. The cuts were needed and overdue. I think the reluctance to spend is to focus on 2018. Remember, another $30mm come off the books next season provided Carpenter, Decker, Gilchrist and Skrine can be replaced, on what is already a low cap base. Now if Wilkerson again acts unprofessionally by skipping meetings and walkthroughs, Mac and Bowles need to show some balls and eat $9mm of Woody's $$$ to save another $11mm on the 2018 cap.

The goal is to have a top 5 defense, a top 5 pick and $80mm+ in available cap space in '18. All Mac and Bowles need to do is to keep this team from embarrassing Woody and the fans. And Mac needs to crush this draft.

Exactly.Although a top 2 pick would be preferable.

Completely agreed. I have never been so depressed ever with this team? Honestly I think this team is being run by incompetent douchebags.

Oh how I agree
fan and ticket holder as long as you my friend
and your name can't get any closer
signing a QB form the Browns no less (whom we are not suppose to be because of this great rebuild) whose record is 2-20 since 2014 . Oh great .He gets to teach young QBs how to suck. Not that they need teaching.

and then we're told we are not patient fans
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahah

Only the Jets are NEVER successful doing it. They already had one opportunity to build the team up and how did that work out?
