Skrine on Jets' offseason: 'Ain't no rebuilding' in New York

I'd much prefer just talking it out.

Now, whatever Maine wants to do with other JFU members is up to him, as long as all involved are consenting adults.

I must commend you on your very politically correct way. I lack that ability and really have no filter at all. But I commend those that are able to make the politically correct thing "their way".

This is a joke right??? With this current roster, the Jets can try their hardest and will only win 4-5 max games anyway this year. So if they don't think that they can rebuild, their doing it anyway by default I guess. Besides, the media may kill them but I don't think majority of us fans will. We the fans see how bad this is and want the rebuild. A lot of us have wanted it since the Rex Ryan days. After his first two years of course. So they may think they can't rebuild but their doing it anyway, LOL!!

There are rebuilds and there are rebuilds. The team has enough picks to improve the defense on this team if they play their cards right. OJ Howard is a terrific player and would help whomever is at QB, however that is a luxury we just can't afford right now. The defense has several solid pieces in place and with a few good picks, this group could become solid. An elite cornerback (or two), a safety and a David Harris replacement would a) make this team better this year and b) would allow further cuts of overpriced vets in 2018. If the stars align just right and Mac attains a few extra picks, he could even get another OLB for the front seven, and solidify the offensive line.

If the team loses 49-3 or 51-1 week and week, EVERY fan will go berserk. If the players simply don't care and yuk it up on the sidelines EVERYONE on the team will be fired. Woody may fire himself! And while many on this site will place the blame on 'the media' (whatever that even means) the truth is the fans, the owners and the NFL will be disgusted and this team will implode and the #1 pick in the draft will not be much of a consolation prize.

I like Bowles but I just don't understand his "everyone has an alarm clock that doesn't work now and then" attitude. Are you kidding me? Hey Todd, your alarm clock need to go off immediately! Wake up and start holding these prima donnas accountable or 'rebuild' will be a permanent part of the Jets offseason mantra.

Was listening this am to Gang Green Nation's (John B) interview of Tony Pauline on the draft and Jets. Pauline has some decent insights into players like Lattimore, but his assessment of MikeM was pretty spot on in my opinion. Its in the last 5 minutes of the 15 min interview and might be worth a listen for some perspective on the rebuild. Judge for yourself.

I agree that everyone will lose it if the team is getting beat by 40 every game and they are not even trying, I would also!!! That's not where I'm going with this. What I mean is the team needs to go young, develop the youth and let's see what we have. What players will be our franchise 10 plus year guys. Do we have any future HOFers. Do we have a franchise QB in Hack, Petty or a rookie (if they draft one.)

Everyone will want the team to compete hard and we all want the coaches and GM to draft well and put the best players out there but young players. Time to rebuild the right way for the future. If that means the team wins 4-5 games this year and next so be it but let's do that with the younger players. Not these overpaid vets that aren't much better than the younger players anyway

I think we're in violent agreement here.

Who wouldn't?? That. IMO, is exactly what happened last season. I look at the Colts, Patsies, Dolphins where they everything wrong and did not appear to care? It looked like to me that the team had given up on Toilet. That's unacceptable and that's why IMO, if you want to avoid that very same thing happening, then you must replace the HC. All of those poor performances you are referring to is a direct indictment on the HC..........

no need to apologize sack.. i jumped the gun without asking you for clarification & I'm glad you've accepted my apology..

We're all good. Emotions get heated, especially when the team isn't in good shape right now. We just all, myself included, need to remember we all root for the same Gang Green.

It's just my nature. Between the college classroom and actually having run for, and held, local office, you develop a way of saying something without saying it.

Part of me wishes I was more blunt. But why say something in five words when you can use 50?

This is huge. I am not totally down on Bowles, but I completely agree with you here. A team is going to have a flat, no effort game once in a while, maybe once or at most twice a season. The Jets did it WAYYYYY too often. And that reflects very poorly on the guy at the helm.
