I have it narrowed down to 3, with one possible dark horse

There's only two players I'm certain will be gone at 6, Myles Garrett and Solomon Thomas.

If what I read here is true, Jamal Adams is next on the Jets value board, but they don't anticipate he will be there for them.

Assuming thats correct, its pretty safe to assume Adams is the pick if he slides to 6, but lets say the Jets are right and that doesn't happen.

That means we're looking at a value board that goes three deep for the Jets, with two more ahead of them.

First, who might be on that value board, based purely on value, not on positions or needs?

I'm guessing its Malik Hooker, OJ Howard, Marshon Lattimore and Jonathan Allen ... with Mitchell Trubisky being a possible dark horse.

Thats four, five if you count Trubisky, but I think we can eliminate Allen based on position and need, so its three and possibly Trubisky.

Now its a matter of discerning HOW the Jets have these players stacked in terms of draft grades?

MY BEST GUESS ...

1. Malik Hooker, FS, Ohio State
2. Marshon Lattimore, CB, Ohio State
3. OJ Howard, TE, Alabama

Again, Trubisky is a possible dark horse based on his positional value as a QB and the fact that QB is still not settled for us.

Now here's the problem with that value board, it doesn't account for injuries, and since none of us are privy to the Jets medical reports, we don't know to what degree Hooker and/or Lattimore have been downgraded due to injuries, if at all?

What we do know is that Howard is the only one of the three who comes with a totally clean bill of health. So, based on that, its conceivable that Howard can sit at 1 or 2 on that value board simply because he is the healthiest of the three.

All I know is, if we stay at 6 I'm pretty sure we are taking someone from that short list, unless Adams falls, in which case it sounds like we would take Adams, and lastly, the QB (as usual) is the possible wild card or dark horse.

If Howard a RB or WR is the first pick safe to say Hack is progressing, my hope

If Mac can trade down, all of this is irrelevant.

I think it's hard to say any of this with certainty. If Jamal Adams is there at 6 I do agree he's getting strong consideration however I wouldn't say it's definite. If Adams Howard fournette are all there or Adams lattimore Howard I think it's a coin flip between those 3 on who we pick. With, as you said, a qb (trubisky or Watson) being a dark horse possibility although not likely IMO. If I were Mac I am taking guys in this order based on availability..

1. Garrett
2. Thomas
3. Fournette
4. Howard
5. Hooker
6. Adams
7. Lattimore
8. QB

Again this isn't a predicted board just my personal preference. Give me any of those top 4 I am a happy camper. Give me 5-7 I'm lukewarm and don't expect any instant impact. Give me a qb and I'm intrigued but not optimistic

I agree but I'm not sure if the Jets take a RB even if Fournette is there. It seems like that would be a wasted pick for one going that high. Powell played at a high enough level last year. I don't see RB as a huge need.

An OL will help the running AND the passing game. (It would probably help the defense too, because long drives give the defense time to rest.)

After trading back, yes. At 6? I'm not sure there's a lineman who merits that pick.

I'd be fine with dealing back and going for Ramczyk or Carpenter, both of whom I like a lot at OT.
