With that said in the title, where is in the plans for veteran Matt Forte? Will the team simple eat his guarantee monies and release or try to trade him to a team that is willing to part with a day three 2018 draft selection?
We have a plethora of talent from last year and including our selection this year, so how will this play out?
We have already released Brandon Burks but we still have Brandon Wilds, Romar Morris and newcomer Elijah McGuire (2017 rookie) to bolster behind Bilal Powell...
Wilds showed flashes of a physical presence last season in his few attempts near the end of the season and Romar Morris showed some shiftiness to be an addition in the return game... Doubt they will keep four running backs because they have two fullbacks currently looking to compete for one spot... Both Chris Swain and Julian Howsare are the two fullbacks wouldn't be shocked if they claim someone in preseason to compete... We also utilize H-Back Quincy Enunwa as a part time crack back/fullback...
Like the receiving core, would have to say the veteran Matt Forte, who is rehabbing an injury suffered late last season could or should be on the bubble... This is a tough one because his entire 2017 salary is guaranteed making it unlikely the team will simply release him...
If the coaching staff and front office want to win and earn the respect of the fan base then it is time to give Bilal Powell the lead role of this group... Depending on how McGuire develops in the off season he should still be the No. 3 option to allow him to improve upon his functional game shape... So who is the No. 2? Have to lean to Brandon Wilds because of his physical north/south capability bringing a different dimension to Powell's game... Yes Bilal showcases a little bit of everything his best attribute has to be his second and third gear after contact and his escape ability...
If the team has an opening on the practice squad would want Romar Morris to get that spot... His return ability could get him an active roster spot if we don't keep a traditional fullback...
