After weeks of trying, the New York Jets traded former first-round pick Calvin Pryor to the Cleveland Browns on Thursday, reacquiring linebacker Demario Davis -- a starter for the Jets from 2013 to 2015.

Kinda interested to see how this changes the ILB dynamic. Has Bowles seen enough of Harris two steps behind in coverage and is looking for more athleticism at ILB? Does Bowles pair Davis with Lee to give us two very athletic ILBs, or is he just insurance behind Harris? Funny, I was looking at Jets OTA pics and saw #52 way behind one of our TEs and thought, Jesus he is slow. Ha, maybe Bowles and MM were thinking the same thing.

I didn't like seeing Davis leave, so I'm glad to get him back. Seems Pryor was destined to be gone, anyway.

Well i think this is a good trade once you get past the idea that Pryor was a first round pick. Demario Davis will provide more value for us because we need ILB help.

Davis seems like a real solid guy on and off the field, so this may be another locker-room building move. The complaint on Davis was that he wasn't the most instinctive player, but he checked all of the other boxes. Looked at his stats last year at Cleveland, and he had 99 tackles and 2 sacks. To me this is a very solid move by MM, is Sheldon next?

This is a good trade for us... I think a lot of things went against Pryor in his time here but it was time to move on. Davis brings the depth we need at ILB. He is great against the run.

I wonder where this puts Darron Lee? Do they keep Minnie Mouse on the inside or will he be making a move to OLB? IMO, either way he's going to have put muscle on to be effective in this defense.........

The Jets got great value for Pryor also. We all know Demario Davis was a very good player for us? MUCH better than Pryor has been. We should be disappointed that a 1st rounder turned out to be such a waste, but also happy that Mac managed to get a good player in return for him..........

I read that Jets would have cut Pryor had they not been able to trade him. If cut there would have been a dollar for dollar cap hit. Whereas even though we are taking on a bigger contract with Davis, none of it is guaranteed thus we can move on if he doesn't work out.

This is an interesting move by MM. Surprising we got anything for him and happy we got at least a very solid backup, if not starter. I think many on this thread are correct in saying he is way better than Harris at this stage. Very solid move by MM.

The NY Post has a sentence in the article that stated Rex benched him as a rookie because he was late to meetings. I mean this guy was a cancer and thank goodness we have new blood, new attitude... Now lets finish the job by getting rid SR .....

My sense is that the chains are off both MM and TB so they can build the team with their own guys. The attitudes and bloated contract/non-performing players are gone or going, and the young and hungry is the theme. This is a breath of fresh air.

Plus he has played in this defense so its an easy transition. He couldn't cover TE's either if I remember correctly.

no, he couldn't.. i also remember a guy that didn't play up to his athletic ability.. but 99 tackles (last season) is still 99 tackles in the NFL..

but more importantly, we moved a guy that no longer had a role here for a guy that does..

He got torched covering the wheel route. He got exposed very badly. The Jets drafted Darron Lee to cover the wheel route among other things. This move will either work out marvelously or it will be a major disaster?

I had NO confidence watching Lee play inside? He was beyond bad. We already know Demario Davis was a good ILB other than defending the wheel route. I read recently in a Jets blog (consider the source) that Lee put on 28 pounds of muscle during this offseason? If that's true then the real test will be can he maintain his speed at approximately at 243 pounds? If he can then he should be much more effective inside.

If that's true then acquiring Davis makes the Jets a much better defense. If Lee fails, and I must say I suspect he will, then this move will be historically bad.

Why are you so down on lee? He's played a rookie season, that's it.

This move has to be to limit Harris. He is not close to the player he once was and needs to be a situational player only. Time for youth and speed.

Double D will be more of the 3rd down replacement of Harris imo... We he was first here he was tried as the "fast ILB" . Good depth signing , less baggage than Erin Henderson
