Darnold not a lock to enter draft

Like I said already.......I don't care and neither should the Jets. The Jets should not care about thing they cannot control. They are already far too challenged simply fielding a competitive team, let alone worrying about things that may or may not happen in a year or two from now..........

What else is Darnold gonna say - that he's definitely leaving. The media loves associating stories like this to emphasize how pathetic Jets are. It's hard to believe if he has a very good/great 2017 year that he won't come out. Players rarely risk staying in college (injury) if they are one of the top selection. Manning is just the rare exception.

Darnold isn't the only talent in next year's draft so no big deal... Who knows we may NOT need him anyways, so lets not panic on WHAT IFs now...

And why would you say that? Are you thinking we may already have our QB and if so which one? Do you know something we don't because if you do please enlighten us.

Darnold was asked does he plan to enter the draft after this season he answered that is long ways off I am only worried about this season not what may happen thereafter and a reporter took that as he is going to not enter the draft to avoid being selected what by us the Jets or the Browns or whomever will be at the bottom of the barrel to grab him is a bunch bull...

I do feel we have two promising quarterbacks on the roster and one should take that next step but you all are so hell bent on trashing this season before it even started... So yes I believe Hackenberg has a real shot at being the starting QB... Also believe Petty is a reliable option if needed (injury)... Maybe I am too optimistic for u guys but that is who I am until the team proves otherwise...

I don't. I'm thinking the very reason Mac is tanking this season is to get Darnold? Therefore, process of deduction, he does NOT believe in any QB on the roster.

the team is NOT tanking...

have to start somewhere and it is better to start now with the youth movement to move forward to add through the draft...

unfortunately every waking pretending reporter is spinning stories yet again to stir up the Jets faithful in believing that not only we will fail but in doing so won't cash in on the golden ticket (Sam Darnold)... like I said there are others, Rosen has consistently demonstrated his pocket poise, accuracy, and shrewd decision-making... another to be in the top ten is Mason Rudolph, whom is a pure pocket passer with a strong arm... so to be all in already on Darnold is foolish, because there are other potential prospects at the QB position that will be available next draft if we are in contention for one, which right now I don't think we will be but never know...

Lol. You can believe whatever you want. IMO, there's simply zero evidence of them NOT tanking. They cut anyone with talent in favor of young, totally uproven players.

there is a small sample of proven talent that they chose to build around, cutting oft-injured veteran players to start the rebuild of youth movement behind these young veterans is the start of something that this fan base is NOT used too... so yes I can believe what I want to and can dispute your comments as well...

This will be a painful, yet healthy transition, and I welcome it. I'm tired of the 'ground hog day' causing philosophies of the past. Having said that, I want to see management sticking to the rebuild and not succumbing to the inevitable media and fan pressures.

If the Jets got that top pick, and Darnold stayed in college, came out next year for some other team, and was a Hall of Famer, I think we'd all have to admit that for as much as this organization makes mistakes, it has the absolute worst luck in the world.

i don't know sack.. if the kid stays in school to avoid us picking him, i wouldn't see that as bad luck.. that would probably be the people that have his ear think the jets are a franchise worth avoiding if at all possible..

So David Harris was an oft-injured talent? A player like Matt Forte that could very well retire after this season is a guy they decided to build around? Unless this team is deliberately tanking in an effort to get better, NO fan base could ever get used to this fucking mail-it-in approach.

David Harris wasn't oft-injured but he was fucking slower than dirt... His athleticism left him long ago, yes he was a vocal leader but you are starting to reach to explain yourself... Eric Decker, Nick Mangold (should I even mention #24?) both were declining players because of all the injuries they incurred... As for Matt Forte the team should of just ate his fully guaranteed salary for this year and filled the roster with another young back which may still happen depending how he looks in camp... They should be focusing with Powell as the lead back and newly drafted McGuire and Wilds as the backups...

Those fucking veterans unfortunately had their good moments but they would of slowed any progression for some of these young ones on our roster whom may or may not be here in five years...

This team technically look like they are mailing it in, but a professional athlete on the team don't want to hear that because they are all competitors and they might not have enough talent to be truly successful this season but for this organization to grow they needed to blow up this roster and start from almost scratch...

Even if David Harris was slower than dirt (and honestly I tend to agree), he was still the best linebacker the Jets had. Eric Decker brought veteran leadership and a top notch reputation to this team. he had his share of injuries, but he was still a great player on the football field, especially in the red zone.

The idea of blowing up an entire team just to rebuild from the ground up is nonsense. There's ALWAYS veterans you can hold on to so you can at least present some sort of fight to your opponents. The Jets however, are just laying down and admitting defeat before they even play a game. I am not reaching one bit to come to the conclusion that the Jets are most certainly tanking this season. It remains to be seen whether this team has LESS talent than the 1996 team, but that's only because just about every player remaining on the roster is totally unproven. Just to name a few..... Christian Hackenberg? Bryce Petty? That's not exactly a wealth of NFL experience there? Robbie Anderson? he looked good playing sparingly last season. And honestly, no one knows if he can handle taking consistent NFL hits? He's a pretty skinny kid.

But really the tell tale sign of a tanking team manifests itself in one of two ways:

1) And this is most common - The organization merely sucks from top to bottom. They don't anything well, from coaching to drafting, managing their salary cap, etc. A prime example of that would be the Cleveland Browns. They've been terrible for many years now and no matter what they do in the draft the results never change.

2) OR you can deliberately go in the tank for a season or two to try and increase your odds of getting some franchise changing players. In a QB driven league, teams can sometimes tank to get that one QB they covet the most. The Indianapolis Colts did it?

Looking specifically at the Jets:

1) They cut every single player with a large salary except for a few.

2) Veteran leadership? It's absolutely irrelevant as far as Mac is concerned? Just about every vested veteran on the team was cut.

3) They are attempting to build what would be properly characterized as a "war chest" going into the spring of 2018. But somehow they don't seem to care about THIS season? So is 2017 a throw away season?

All of this points to the Jets not caring about winning in 2017. Let alone when Woody Johnson says himself, that Jets fans should NOT look at wins and losses in 2017, just player development? The run of the mill fan, that merely turns on the TV on Sunday to watch the Jets game, doesn't give a shit about player development. They want to see the Jets win football games.

Woody has never been the kind of guy that would say things like that anyway. He's always looked for the path to quick success. Now? He's remaining very conspicuously quiet while this roster has become virtually devoid of talent.

In the end, believe what you want. I'm certainly not telling you what to believe? But for me? If there's any official stamp you could put on a team to identify them as a team that is tanking? The Jets have invented that standard with virtually every move they have made during this offseason.

Most teams that have the first overall pick, barring a trade, are franchises worth avoiding. I would think playing in New York would, for some, be favorable to playing in a Cleveland or Jacksonville.
