i agree almost word for word..Yes. Yes he was horrible last year, and even in his prime he was a true mercenary who was concerned with himself first and team second. Clearly the annual contract battles soured many Jets fans including myself, but there is no denying his excellence. He was probably one of the top 3 Jets of all time, and will be a hall of fame inductee.
as many of you have heard, Claiborne wanted to wear that # but the jets didn't allow him.
Do you want to see Revis jersey up on the ring of honor?
Ring of honor? Yes.
Retired? Not sure of that.
So ring of honor doesn't mean your # is retired? I thought that was the case.
I'm okay with either or.
But it I agree with 15 here. Revis in prime was great but he's selfish so he won't be beloved like all other great NY players. That's on him.
it's funny, i absolutely associate "24" more with mcneil than revis..No. Freeman McNeil wore #24, and he is in the Ring of Honor, but Revis went on to wear #24.
The only retired numbers are:
12-Namath
13-Maynard
28-Martin
73-Klecko
90-Byrd
Weeb is part of that group, though as a coach and without a number.
But there are several other guys in the Ring of Honor whose numbers still circulate:
24-McNeil
32-Boozer
41-Snell
60-Grantham
75-Hill
80-Chrebet
81-Philbin
85-Walker
88-Toon
93-Lyons
99-Gastineau
I think that's all, but I might have missed a few. Those numbers are still in use, even though the guys are in the Ring of Honor.
it's funny, i absolutely associate "24" more with mcneil than revis..
we all know how great revis was in his prime but mcneil is still the most dynamic jet RB i've ever watched play..
his running style was smooth as ice.. IMO, the only thing that kept free out of the hall was freak injuries..
thoughts sack??
not much to disagree with your post..Definitely. Revis is legitimately the best player the Jets have ever had hands down. He's a first ballot hall of famer aside from anything the Jets do.
agreed..Is Revis the best Jets player ever? I could honestly make a case for Klecko.
agreed..
ironically, revis is probably a lock for the hall & perhaps a first ballot guy..
where as klecko essentially has no shot left.....
not much to disagree with your post..
still, revis has done absolutely nothing to be an all time fan favorite..
his effort level last season was shameful.. so was bowles trotting him out there, watching him get his ass lit up game after game..
he was also one strongest guys of his era.. functional "NFL" strength..Isn't that sad? Klecko absolutely deserves it. His career was phenomenal. Versatile, tough, played a long time, all but his last with the Jets.
