True, but tunsil had the issue of the pot gas mask. Which scared off some teams.
The pot gas mask incident was the only reason Tunsil was available to the Jets via trading up? Tunsil would have gone 1st overall if not for that. It was GREAT value for Mac to trade the 20th overall, the Jets 2nd and 4th to move up 10 spots and we would have netted an EXCELLENT player in a major area of need. I figured going into the draft that Mac would surely take a an OL especially after Brick retired? I thought Mac would surely take Jack Conklin if he had been there. But then many teams started up into the top 10 just to get one of the franchise tackles that were available.
The very second the Darron Lee pick was announced I KNEW something very fishy was in the works. Lee is a prototypical 4-3 linebacker, NOT a 3-4 linebacker for which the Jets play. Not a single draftnik had the Jets taking Lee, it was COMPLETELY out in Left Field. It really was a very shaky moment for Mac. That's when I started to realize this guy could be really, really bad despite his great reputation when he was hired?
But I am certain if Mac had last years draft to do all over again, he would not have even touched Hack or Darron Lee. He must know by now that they both suck? And if Mac gets fired after this season, he'll be looking at last years draft as one of the big reasons why.
