Roster Move: Jets Claim DE Kony Ealy

The Jets have claimed DE Kony Ealy off of waivers from the Patriots and waived/injured DL Anthony Johnson.

The 25-year-old Ealy was originally a second-round pick (No. 60 overall) of the Carolina Panthers in the 2014 NFL Draft. The Missouri product spent his first three pro seasons with the Panthers, appearing in 47 regular season games. He had 14 sacks and six forced fumbles with the Panthers before being traded to the Patriots on March 11.

Ealy, 6'4", 275 pounds, also has appeared in five postseason contests. He racked up three sacks and an interception in Super Bowl 50 against the Broncos.

The Jets claimed Johnson off of the New England's practice squad last November. He appeared in seven games for the Jets and totaled four defensive tackles. Johnson was credited with a sack in the Green & White's preseason opener vs. the Titans.

Keep him & cut Wilkerson who just doesnt want to play hard for Jets/Bowles/and his fellow D Linemen. Allowing him to play like this is sending a bad message to our young defensive players watching Wilkerson dog it for, 2 years in a row after this season after being paid 1 highest player on Jets defense. Richardson dogged it last year & showing this year the exact same plan Wilkerson did by play hard only in contract year, get big payday & go back to quitting. Makes m,e sick watching Jets allowing this crap by Bowles & Mikey Mac. Send a message guys that Jets are not going to put up with this nonsense. Or Woody needs to fire Bowles & Mikey for it.

I agree about Mo. He better produce this year or cut his lazy ass. Last year he had a slight excuse, but not this year. Ealy could work in certain packages.

Agree. He played really well yesterday. I can see him making an impact. He's probably already better than most of our LBs
