Mo Wilkerson could be a trade piece... After Mo, leaves us with 6 defensive lineman...

We r loaded up on underrated linebackers... Total 9 linebackers but only 2 middle linebackers... Unless they plan to move Julian Stanford inside to replace Demario Davis... There is hope that Erin Henderson will return as well...

I wouldn't put it past our front office to sign another couple defensive lineman on camp invites...
more worried about the linebacking core... don't get me wrong I like what they have going but a little concerned on depth... I think Mauldin/Reilly sew up ROLB... Will Bishop be that guy on other side? Will Josh Martin beat out the competition of Howsare, Barnes to be the rotational player to Bishop... With Stanford's size could he be converted to WILL MLB? Hope Taiwan Jones earns major reps so he can further is development to be David Harris' heir apparent...

Richardson may be suspended for his police chase incident, and if he takes another toke, he's gone for a year.
Mo most likely won't be traded because the compensation is too low.

if Maccagnan feels there is no chance that he can re-sign Mo, then any compensation should be an option... Player plus pix or one pick in 2016 w/conditional future pick... As for Richardson situation, hope he won't take another toke but as for his impending suspension it may be no more than one or two games...
Totally agree. Trading Mo might be the best way to get younger, as you pointed out in another post. A second a fourth may be what's needed especially given the unbelievably horrible recent drafts. Offensive linemen and linebackers needed! And a corner for good measure!
If those are the linebackers we're starting the season with, we're taking a huge gamble. I don't see much proven talent there. I'm not even convinced Mauldin is an every down player.
I believe Mauldin will split time with Reilly...
I think Bishop is a low risk high reward but we need someone else to split with him, doubt that player is on this roster right now...
Jets are interested in bringing back Lattimore who was one reason Davis was let to walk... But not sure Lattimore could be that every down player... So it will all depend on if the Jets can get Henderson back in the door...
Like I said, I see the potential but am a skeptic on the total potential from this unit... David Harris is our only true linebacker that is steady year in year out...

Not predicting this, but it is possible the Jets could take a LB'er in both the first, and second. a pass rusher, and an inside guy.

honestly, I think the same. I wouldn't be against spending our entire draft on defense. We can rebuild the unit within one offseason. The offense is pretty good right now as long as Fitz comes back. Our offense can put up points with the best of them and might have gotten better with the addition of Forte and possibly Amaro. Our defense lost a few key guys and is in need of an overhaul. We need to find pass rushers.

As per OTC, the Jets are $30mm under the 2017 cap, albeit with lots of areas of need. If Mac can address the OT, ILB and OLB and Mangold's eventual replacement in the draft and fill Breno's slot in FA, another $30mm opens up. This is a key draft for him.

I think a 2nd and a 4th gets it done. Unless the OL is fixed this offseason, next year and beyond are in bad shape.
