Colts traded their 13th overall pick to the San Francisco 49ers for Defensive Tackle DeForrest Buckner. The Colts did acquire the Washington Redskins 34th (2nd Rd) pick during the 2019 NFL Draft. There are two receivers that the Colts are said to be smitten with, one is Alabama's Henry Ruggs and the other is LSU's Justin Jefferson. To move back into the first round they will have to pony up some future capitol to move back into the first round.

If the Jets do indeed make a deal with the Falcons and move back to 16, the Jets would be the ideal landing spot for the Colts to move ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles who are said to covet Justin Jefferson. All expect both Jeudy and Ruggs to be off the board by the 15th pick.

To make this trade work the Colts would have to give up the 2nd (34th), 2nd (44th) and a mid round 2021 ( possibly another 4th round )!

if the Jets make that first trade with the Falcons would you consider making this move knowing that there is talent across the board available in round 2?

I think so. It might be too late to land a Jackson, who I might take at 16 if the trade didn't happen. But 3 picks in the first half of the second round is a lot of ammo. OT/WR/CB (or edge) can all be addressed.

that Washington pick through the Colts is huge in my eyes No. 34 overall... Like a first without the debt of a 5th year team option if the player doesn't pan out... Jeff Gladney would definitely be in play with the 44th pick... Then the 47 & 48 could double dip with Matt Hennessy & Antonio Gandy-Golden...

But with that 34th pick if Josh Jones and Austin Jackson are definitely off the board then taking a chance on Andrew Thomas' former teammate Isaiah "Bunny" Wilson would be a gamble but he has all the attributes of Andrew Thomas minus the play on the left side... Could be intriguing to see if he has the ability to play blindside... Wilson is a road grader type run blocker with athleticism

Then two picks in the third use one on Peart or Heck while the other can go for Michael Pittman Jr.

Quick bio on Wilson:
Wilson grew up in Brooklyn, which isn't a recruiting hotbed, but his massive size and athleticism made him a target for coaches all over the country. The top-20 overall prospect signed with Georgia but wound up redshirting his first year in Athens. Wilson came out strong the next season, starting all 14 games at right tackle and earning Freshman All-American and SEC All-Freshman accolades. He continued to show great promise in his sophomore season, though an ankle injury limited him to 11 games played with 10 starts. Wilson was still named a second-team Associated Press All-American despite the missed time. While he was in high school, The New Yorker magazine spotlighted Wilson's love for SpongeBob SquarePants (he wore a SpongeBob backpack) in its annual "Reasons to Love New York" feature.

It was stated if he returned to Georgia he would of been penciled in as the starting left tackle...

But what a home coming it would be, New Yorker coming home to play for his home town Jets?

In my opinion, when we make projections like this, we are too optimistic as to who would be available when trading down. For example, I have seen several mocks with Pittman going in the second round.

Pittman Jr. is the 10 best receiver in this draft so there is a chance he goes in the second round but I highly doubt unless teams like him over other receivers:

  • CeeDee Lamb
  • Jerry Jeudy
  • Henry Ruggs
  • Justin Jefferson
  • Tee Higgins
  • Brandon Aiyuk
  • Laviska Shenault Jr.
  • Denzel Mims
  • Jalen Reagor
  • Michael Pittman Jr.
By chance we don't get Pittman then we are all in on any of these guys below:

  • KJ Hamler
  • Tyler Johnson
  • Chase Claypool
  • Donovan Peoples-Jones
  • Devin Duvernay
  • Van Jefferson
  • Antonio Gandy-Golden
  • Bryan Edwards
  • KJ Hill
  • Jauan Jennings
or the other 20 options available after the first 20

I’m trying to understand the trade, the Jets give up the 11th pick for the 34th, 44th pick and a 4th rndr in 2021?

no if the Jets make the first trade with the Falcons then they double down with the Colts...

as you can see the titles of the threads are marked 1,2,3 in that order of things...

there is noted information about the Falcons desire to move up to 11 to draft CJ Henderson after releasing Desmond Trufant...

there is noted information the Colts want to reacquire a 1st round pick (trade back in) after trading their 1st for DeForrest Buckner (49ers)...

after trading back and getting picks from Falcons doubling down and then getting 2 more seconds (with one of them being the 34th Overall) makes sense for a team that has failed drafts after drafts, why put the team's future in an experimental 1st round pick after the top tackles are off the board why draft a player that we hope ( team option 5th year ) will pan out...

with these two deals we would have 4 - 2nd round picks, 2 - 3rd round picks, 2 - 4th round picks, 5th round pick & our 2 - 6th round picks...

what kind of draft could you dream up with those picks? @McJet

There will be at least one Top 10 receiver in the 2nd round, possibly another in the 3rd...

Jets could double dip on the offensive line both getting a LT & C to be backups this upcoming season and learn behind the veterans that were signed... Then with one of 3rd round picks take project converted TE to OT Ben Bartch...

Can find a CB in the 2nd, RB in the 4th, even draft P in the 6th if we choose too...

I would not trade down past wherever Douglas feels he can get his top rated left offensive tackle, whomever that might be. If that pick happens to be at pick 11, so be it. If his top rated tackle happens to be Jackson, then I would say ok, we can trade down slightly and still get him. I would not take the risk of trading down to the point where we might miss out on his top rated tackle, and certainly would not trade out of the first round.

what if after the top two left tackles are off the board and the next left tackle that Joe Douglas likes is Ben Bartch a late 3rd early 4th round pick would you then be upset to take him at No. 11 or would you trade down to acquire more picks then select Bartch earlier than he is projected to be to secure that you got your guy?

Joe Douglas has been looking into plenty of prospects not just the so called top guys because there is no guarantees that any of those guys will be the guy for the long haul...
