Jets, Titans, Jaguars on hand to watch Davis Tull/UT-CHATT workout http://walterfootball.com/proday.php

As predicted earlier today, running back Corey Grant scorched the track in the 40, running times under 4.3s. As is usually the case, pro-day times are all over the place but the consensus had Grant at 4.27. His other marks were equally competitive, as Grant touched 37 inches in the vertical, 10-7 in the broad and 22reps on the bench.

I'm told the Atlanta Falcons, Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots have shown great interest in Grant, who has sealed himself as a late-round pick.

The Patriots have also shown a lot of interest in Auburn's "other" running back, Cameron Artis-Payne. The fast-rising ball-carrier stood on his 40 time from the combine but ran the shuttle and 3-cone today (still awaiting times). During drills, he was quick-footed and caught the ball exceptionally well. Expect Artis-Payne to solidify himself as a top-100 pick.

I'm told other marks include cornerback Jonathon Mincy timing 4.52 in the 40 and defensive lineman Jeff Whitaker completing 41 reps on the bench.

Kevin Colbert of the Pittsburgh Steelers was on hand for the workout.

The Bulldogs' pro day is tomorrow, Wednesday, but I'm already told there will be a crowd on hand for Benardrick McKinney. Nearly a dozen linebacker coaches are expected to watch McKinney, who's been drawing strong interest from the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants,Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears and New York Jets, who are meeting with the linebacker for dinner this evening.

As initially posted earlier, Maxx Williams sat on his combine numbers at Minnesota's pro day, but as reported by others, he looked good in pass catching drills. And while I don't consider Williams a first-round selection, a number of teams disagree. Last night, I was informed every team between picks 26 through 32, except for the Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts, will consider selecting Williams late in Round 1.

Virginia running back Kevin Parks jumped well during pro day (39.5-inch vertical, 9-10 broad), did well on the bench (21 reps) and looked good in position drills. Unfortunately his 40 time, which clocked in the low 4.7s, will likely knock Parks out of any late-round consideration he had been receiving. I'm told in recent weeks, Parks had been timing in the mid-4.5s, which makes his performance today even more disappointing.

UT-Chattanooga
Twenty-two teams were on hand for UT-Chattanooga pro-day this morning including directors of college scouting from the New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville Jaguars and Oakland Raiders.

Most all were on hand to watch Davis Tull, who did not disappoint. Tull, who has been struggling with hamstring and shoulder injuries, was first put through a battery of linebacker drills and looked good. Scouts felt his hip turn and pass drops were quick and fluid.

After drills, Tull ran one 40 and timed anywhere between 4.55 seconds to 4.59 seconds. I'm told Tull flipped the workout around, running drills before timing in the 40, in case his bad hamstring acted up, which in fact it did prior to his sprint.

It is of interest that two of the teams on hand, the New York Jets and Tennessee Titans, both need a 3-4 pass-rushing linebacker while the Jacksonville Jaguars are looking for a Bruce Irvin type of player.

Defensive lineman Derrick Lott, who has been ill in recent days, did not take part in the workout and will stand on his combine mark.

Once the group workout was complete, New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick worked out defensive linemen Angelo Blackson and Gabe Wright. Keep an eye on Blackson, who ran in the low 4.9-second range today after timing a hand-held best of 4.98 seconds at the combine. He's a large (6-4.5, 318) athletic tackle who really doesn't get the credit he deserves in part due to the way Auburn used its linemen.

I'm told scouts were very impressed with Sammie Coates' workout today, especially the consistency of his hands, which has been an issue since the season. Both Coates and Cameron Artis-Payne met privately with the Cleveland Browns before the workout.

Wake-Forest had their Pro Day on Monday, and while most of the 22 NFL scouts that attended were there to see Kevin Johnson CB, the guy that stole the show was Phillip Sims QB 6'3"/230 who was throwing 50-65 yard dart passes to WR's all day long. He was a 5 star recruit who finished his College career @ WSSU after previously playing for Virginia & Alabama. The scouts went up and shook his hand @ the end of the day. He will be a FA steal.

Last year the scouts came to see Michael Campanaro WR who is now a Raven, but were all drawn to another WSSU player named Carlos Fields OLB who's on the Colts practice squad after running a 4.4 / 40 being a 6'2"/245 LB.

Note: 2 years in a row no NY Jet scout was there, but 22 other teams scouts were ?

Almost 30 teams were on hand for the Mississippi State pro-day, including New York Jets defensive coordinator Kacy Rodgers and a number of defensive linecoaches.

Defensive lineman Kaleb Eulls, another combine snub who participated in the Senior Bowl, measured 6-foot-2.5, posted a vertical jump of 28 inches, completed 26 reps on the bench and ran the 40 in times of 5.09 and 5.19 seconds.

Preston Smith and Benardrick McKinney worked out at both defensive line and linebacker drills.

I'm told if there was a surprise of the day it was tight end Malcolm Johnson, who drew rave reviews from scouts. The senior, who posted 28 receptions for 380 yards and three scores in 2014, looked terrific catching the ball and had some drawing comparisons to 9-year veteran Delanie .

I would expect more times from the Mississippi State pro-day shortly.

I'm learning more from the Mississippi State pro-day.

Cornerback Jamerson Love was timed at 4.49 seconds in the 40, while receiver Jameon Lewis was in the 4.57-second range.

Teams came away very impressed with the versatility Preston Smith displayed. He was quick and fast off the edge in defensive line drills and also fluid in linebacker drills.

I'm told Benardrick McKinney looked good in pass-rush drills. If he does land in the latter part of Round 1, those leaving the pro-day believe the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys are teams that could potentially pull the trigger. The surprise team in the mix are the Houston Texans, who are likely to lose Brooks Reed in free agency.

I'm told linebacker Stephone Anthony had a phenomenal day. He only did position drills but teams were impressed with his overall performance, especially his cover skills. Anthony met with the Minnesota Vikings and San Francisco 49ers yesterday before having dinner with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Anthony has been on a straight shot north up draft boards since September. He stood out during the Senior Bowl, then looked terrific at the Combine and capped it off today at pro day. How high will Anthony be selected? The second round seems like a lock but it now looks as though he'll be chosen in the early to middle part of the frame. That poses a problem for a team like the Green Bay Packers, who've shown a lot of interest in the linebacker.

Here are even more numbers and notes from the Clemson Pro Day:

Grady Jarrett tipped the scales at 298 pounds (304 lbs. at the Combine).

Watson measured 6-4, 298, posted a vertical jump of 32.5 inches, broad jump of 9-2, and a short shuttle of 4.49.

Crawford told people on hand the reason he did not participate at the Senior Bowl was due to a high ankle sprain. Crawford's non-appearance in Mobile rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.

Again, I continue to hear multiple sources gush over how the entire group of defensive linemen performed.

Clemson is done with the testing, and the players are now going through drills at present time.

Here's an interesting note on Vic Beasley, whom I'm told tipped the scales at 246 pounds today. The explosive defender did not meet with any teams last night as two days ago, his uncle passed away. An uncle who evidently was like a second dad to Beasley. Beasley went to the funeral and drove back to school yesterday, arriving on campus at 4 a.m. this morning for the pro-day workout.

A few numbers from today's Clemson workout:

Defensive tackle Josh Watson 37 reps on the bench, Grady 33 reps on the bench (30 at combine), Corey Crawford just 17 on bench (did not participate at Combine).

Watson ran an impressive 4.95 in the 40. Quandon Christian, who graduated in 2013 and was in camp last summer, posted a 4.75 40.

I'm told scouts and coaches came away impressed with the practice drills of all the defensive linemen.

Thanks so much for all these pro day updates. It's awesome stuff.

I'm wondering if the Jets in spite of the need at ILB aren't viewing Benardrick as an OLB. I think he has the skill set for it as well as the size.
Preston Smith, Malcolm Johnson? I gotta look those guys up.

And who's this Phillip Sims??? That's interesting.

I've read about Davis Tull and understand the Jets could be interested in him. A couple of sleepers from Auburn to watch as well. Maybe Coates is a target should we trade down with Philly. And Corey Grant? My head's spinning.

Did WRECKS, his entire CS and the Bills front office and owners all get together for a big BBQ at the Clemson pro day?

First the back story.

Randy Gregory's escapades at Sports Science in Los Angeles have been well documented, but his appearance at the filming almost caused him to miss pro day. I'm told due to adverse weather conditions, Gregory's flights were routed then re-routed, and he almost spending a full day in the airport before finally arriving back in Nebraska at 1:30 a.m. today.

From the standpoint of position drills, I'm told Gregory looked terrific. He did both linebacker and defensive line drills, and really impressed, though some were surprised the workout was shorter than expected. I hope to have Gregory's 3-cone and shuttles times later. I can confirm Gregory did meet one-on-one with the San Francisco 49ers.

Tight end Matt LaCosse really impressed scouts. After measuring 6-5 7/8 and 258 pounds, he timed 4.66 and 4.67 in the 40. LaCosse completed 30 reps on the bench, posted a vertical jump of 30 inches and a broad of 9-8. Afterward, he caught the ball well.

LaCosse's numbers have been erroneously reported as those ofJon Davis on the Internet today, but Davis, the team's other tight end, fared well. Davis measured 6-3, 245, timed 4.68/4.70 in the 40 and caught the ball well.

Consensus from scouts is they'll need to go back and watch both players from 2013, as the Fighting Illini's changed offense dismissed the tight end position last season.

Utah State
Linebacker Zachary Vigil tested very well. He timed 4.63 in the 40, completed 26 reps on the bench and posted a broad jump of 9-6. Vigil came in at 602 and 236 pounds.

I'm told Ameer Abdullah looked terrific in drills and was outstanding catching the ball. Sources say he presented himself as a legitimate downfield pass-catching threat.

We could be looking at the Jets pick at #6 in Gregory.

Almost 20 teams were on hand for pro day at Southern Miss, and their focus was primarily for one player: junior defensive lineman Rakeem Nunez-Roches. Standing on his Combine numbers, Nunez-Roches did positional drills for almost 40 minutes in a workout run by the Kansas City Chiefs. Scouts on hand were impressed and came away feeling the defensive lineman had definitely helped his draft stock. After the workout, Nunez-Roches spent a large amount of time with the Washington Redskins.

More from Arizona State:

Offensive lineman Jamil Douglas stood on most of his Combine numbers, running just the short shuttle (4.53-4.57) and three cone (7.67). Hal Hunter of the Indianapolis Colts then put Douglas through a guard workout, and the overwhelming comments were very positive.

Safety Damarious Randall did defensive back position drills and fielded punts. He looked very good, and there was a feeling from the workout that Randall will not get out of the second round of the draft. He is meeting with the Cleveland Browns in the coming days.

I'm told for the most part receiver Jaelen Strong looked good, though he did not catch every pass, which raised a few eyebrows.
