[h=1]Brandon Marshall's return.
Two years ago, Brandon Marshall put together the best receiving season in Jets' franchise history. Last year, he, along with the entire Jets' offense struggled. This offseason, the Jets released Marshall, and he signed a two-year deal with the cross-town rival Giants.
The Jets and Giants don't meet in the regular season, but they do in Week 3 of the preseason. The starters usually play two-plus quarters. The game may be meaningless, but Marshall will surely want to show the Jets what they let go.

[h=1]Christian Hackenberg actually playing.
Outside of those at One Jets Drive, no one has seen Hackenberg play since he walked off the field in last year's preseason finale. Practices are closed to the media, and he didn't play in the regular season. The lone sign of his progression was the lack-there-of. An anonymous coach told ESPN last season Hackenberg "couldn't hit the ocean" and "regressed" during the year.
Assuming Hackenberg is on the Jets' roster Week 1 (here's why he may not be), it'll be a golden opportunity to see how much/little he has improved.

[h=1]What could have been.
Few Jets seasons were as bad as 2014 -- Rex Ryan's final year. After beating the Raiders in the season opener, the Jets lost eight straight and finished 4-12.
Here's the point: The Jets played the Titans in Week 15 that season. The loser of the game figured to have a shot at the No. 2 pick in the NFL Draft, and be in prime position to take Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota, or Florida State's Jameis Winston.
The Jets won, 15-11. The Titans ended up with the No. 2 pick, and took Mariota. Mariota is on the fast track to becoming an NFL superstar. The Jets are still searching for a quarterback.
If the Jets had lost the game, maybe things would be a bit different. The Jets will face Mariota for the second time in the preseason opener.
