It depends on which algorithm you run. In my case, no QB was worth drafting in the first two rounds there. They were all gone by time I picked. I did another where I got Darnold, Love and Pettis.

Right. I didn't make up the scenario. This is how it happened when I ran it.

That would be an excellent draft IMO. When I drafted yesterday, the only QB available with any name recognition was Jackson. Not sure why some guys had Darnold or Rosen available, regardless I'd be very happy with grabbing two OL building blocks at the top. I would also like a RB who can get the tough yards, so the 220 lb Chubb might be the answer.

we can't run the ball or protect the QB with any consistency, so drafting a QB into that situation does no good in my mind. Look at the foundation the cowboys built before plugging an otherwise mid round QB, and the results are damn good.

I would hope with all the cap space we can pick up a guy or two before the draft. then fill in in the later rounds. Don't think you can pass on a QB for that.

Ideally a quality center (think Mawae) is available in free agency. That is a huge and very important void in our OL. A center, CB and edge should be priorities in FA, then the draft is wide open for top rated QBs or BPA.

in this scenario the Jets will eat Matt Forte's remainder think it is $1.11 M dead loss...

possibly trading Bilal Powell is an option a team like the Detroit Lions would or should jump at a chance to acquire someone like him...

I do think Nick Fitzgerald is the best option for our offensive game plan...

Lorenzo Carter is a special talent and would be another 3rd round gem oddly enough from Georgia like Jordan Jenkins...

Billy Price arguably the best interior lineman and center in this draft can not pass up on him...

After cutting bait with Mo, and low balling Ealy who eventually walks the Jets will acquire one free agent D lineman to go along with Mclendon and Leo so adding youth and depth with day 3 picks is a solid venture...

Our main need is filling the void at corner... Tolliver from LSU is the ideal candidate for our defense while adding in sleeper CB from Stanford would help with depth...

But the move to trade own 2nd, Seattle 2nd and future first to get the best RB in the draft is worth the price tandem with McG and possibly either Jahad Thomas, Akeem Judd could be something special...

Now this is all if we stay at our current position but I do feel we could be inching higher maybe pick 5-7 as an ending point which would make it less costly to move up...

Jets can't lose another golden opportunity to pick a QB just because the OL is not ready. Jets may not get this chance again for a long, long time. If the rookie needs to sit for a year while the team develops, so be it...but at least he's here

I agree with this completely. Just looking at logic, how long into next season does it take for the fan base to turn on Mac if he does NOTHING at the most important position on the field?

This will be his third shot at picking up a franchise QB. The fan base knows Mac likes to pick a QB. They'll be looking at this and saying, "this is a waste. Mac likes picking QB's but all of them suck? So what good is his approach doing for the team? The Jets still have a giant goose egg at QB."

I'll admit Mac has been much better at drafting talent than I initially thought, but if he can't pick a QB what good is he? The Jets could have 46 pro bowlers on the team, if the QB is garbage the Jets will NEVER win a SB.

Then I look at this draft and how well stocked it is with talent at QB and I think to myself, if Mac misses or completely ignores QB this time, the fans will surely turn on Mac? He had a great Draft to pick a QB and he missed out yet again. The fans want and demand results. If Mac doesn't find a truly great QB for this team this off season, the fans will be claiming there are no good results. Mac has screwed over the team when he was trying to build this team via free agency. He failed and he actually got a mulligan for that. Now he's failed TWICE in the bigger picture.

I hear Marquise Pouncey could quite possibly be available in FA?

Mac has been an interesting case study when it comes to QBs. He has not made good draft picks, necessarily, as neither Petty nor Hack has lived up to what they might have done. But twice he picked up veterans off the scrap heap and they played their best seasons of their careers. So it's not as though he and his staff don't recognize QB talent. And it's not as if the coaching staff can't get the most out of a QB.

But they need to pick a young QB who can do the things Fitz and McCown did. And they need to make the most out of a young QB's talents the way they did the veterans. To me, that has been the disconnect. It's not like the team hasn't brought in the right QBs. And it's not as if the coaching staff hasn't gotten the most out of QBs. It's that it has not happened yet with a YOUNG QB. They do that, and the franchise will be in very good shape long-term, despite the Same Ol' Jets crowd crowing all the time.

Wesley Johnson hasn't been bad, but Pouncey would definitely be an upgrade, and he's only 28. He did have a leg injury, but it was a fracture, not a structural joint issue. And that was a few years ago.

1) Baker Mayfield - Mac goes for it all in an effort to make the Jets SB contenders.

2) Billy Price - the pick makes sense as it addresses a need and I figure high 2nd round is good value, quite possibly BPA at that point in the draft? A huge addition to the OL. One that makes the OL much better than this season.

2) Mark Andrews - Mac starts to actually draft competition for ASJ for playing time? Let's be honest here, ASJ has been disappointing as of recently.

3) Mason Rudolph - Mac tries to hedge his bets. Two candidates to possibly become the solution for the team?

As a whole I love this draft. Takes advantage of BPA and addresses huge needs for the team simultaneously. The best of both worlds.

Good points. It seems to me that Mac has taken the long term view with the QB position, but with band-aids so that perhaps one of his QB draft projects pans out. Make no mistake both Petty and Hackenberg have the physical attributes you look for in a pro QB, but also are 'damaged goods' in a sense. There is a good reason both were not premium picks, but maybe worth the risk in 2nd and 3rd rounds. Both suffered from their college experience, one from a difficult system to transition from and the other completely miscast and an atrocious surrounding cast. MM has taken a very risky approach indeed, but if he hits he looks like a genius. If either of these guys don't pan out, he could lose his job.

You're trying, but failing to make this sound better than it is? Yeah, sure Mac has done better when signing veteran QB's, but both of those QB's have ever led the team to the playoffs. So if your expectation is to go 5-11 every year then Mac is a genius at finding QB's.

The truth is, Mac has scrambled twice now to put a band-aid over a huge gaping hole at QB. This needs to change once and for all. He wouldn't need band-aids if he'd selected a young, up and coming, long-term option by now.

I know you like to find the silver lining in things, but we are 3 seasons into Mac's regime and this team is putrid. In a QB driven league, the Jets have zilcho at QB. I don't know how much longer you want to wax poetic about things, but my patience has run out. If Mac can't select a franchise QB, then I want him gone. If he can't get a franchise QB then he's a failure as a GM? I really don't believe that can be debated?
