Hopefully, Sam breaks the USC QB curse. He is one strong dude, that's for sure. We desperately need him to work out!
In related news, Tebow is in seventh heaven, with a vastly renewed excitement about our J E T S !!!

if the Browns wanted Ward, how could they not find a trade partner who would give them something for #4 but still high enough to be highly likely to get Ward?

Barkley YES!!! Thank you GOD!!! I can finally say it!!! I had Rosen as my #1 and Darnold as my #2 or 1A rather.

Thank you Cleveland.
Unbelievable, top pick falls again to the Jets.
What would've that draft pick cost had the Jets waited till Darnold was on the clock to move up. Nice work Maccagnan

Bills trade up and I think they are going to take Allen. Which will leave Rosen for the Dolphins or Cardinals (if they trade up to get him.)

The consensus among the talking heads is that we may have finally gotten our FQB, God I hope so. Finally, we have legitimate hope with a young QB who could realistically be our guy for the next 12 years. Now we need to accumulate some assets around him, so hopefully MM takes a RB, TE or OL with our 3rd.

I got tied up with an extra inning baseball game for my kid out here on the Left coast. Didn’t watch the draft until 11:00pm PT. I told all the Dads to shut their mouths so I could be surprised when I got home and watch it myself.

I was both surprised and ecstatic to hear “Sam Darnold”. It was a no brainer. Third slam dunk 1st rounder for Macc in a row.

Repeat after me: Franchise QB

There was a moment after Darnold was picked and I had finished jumping around my living room like a 10 year old that it struck me.......and put a lump in my throat........we may finally be on the right path. The other Johnson has brought an air stability and trust. He's handled the National Anthem issue with grace and endeared himself to the locker room - the GM is being allowed to carry out his plan, one that even us fans have seemed to embrace despite the hunger to win again. I actually trust my GM - I don't know that I've ever felt that way about any Jets GM - even Parcells was a terrible drafter. I'm willing to stick with Bowles since my GM is and I expect to see growth from him as well.

In summary, for maybe the first time in my life I don't feel panic - panic to fit in a good season or two before the regime eventually screws it up. I actually think sustained winning can happen as evidenced by the bodies accumulating on the roster via the draft and tremendous free agency capital this year and next. We're not stuck with bloated contracts that will put them in cap hell.

They have a good plan and the football gods may have finally said the fans deserve a break

I've been saying for some time that we needed to be patient with this regime, that they are taking all the right steps to build a winning franchise. Sack and Hobson, I know you've been saying the same thing. And, I also mentioned that I really like the stamp that Christopher Johnson has put on this team. He's not his brother and he's better at being an active participant in this franchise. If Woody was smart, he would leave his brother in place even when he comes back. It starts at the top, and Mac & Bowles have been saying all along that they had a plan. The three of them really seem to be on the same page. They're finally getting the chance to execute on that plan the past two years with a complete rebuild. And they have drafted well in the first round since Mac has been here with three talented defensive starters and now hopefully our franchise QB.

The trade up was a bold move that really payed off. I would have been fine with Rosen too. But when Darnold fell to us, that was a no brainer. I was critical of Darnold this year, but he has some unique abilities and I believe when it's all said and done, he'll be a very good starter in the NFL. It was the smart pick and the only pick when he dropped. Finally, we caught a break!

I think we all have hope now that this team is headed in the right direction after years of going sideways. I was optimistic when Rex took over and we drafted Sanchez. And that worked for a while. We were a really good team. Darnold is a much better prospect than Sanchez, and this defense can become one of the best in the league with a few more pieces. They still have work to do in this draft...I'm excited to see what they do the next two days!

i agree with the idea we need to be patient and we are starting to see some of the fruits of the efforts. but macc and staff really need to start hitting on their mid-to-late round picks. having traded away 3 valuable draft picks (in hindsight, worth it imo), the picks in rounds 3-7 this year (and next, with no 2nd) really need to be better than what they've produced in their first few drafts
