After taking Sam Darnold with thee 3rd overall pick, however by luck or precision of G.M. Maccagnan did to move up into the right spot, it is time to move our focus on to day 2 of 2018 NFL Draft and our focus is on our 3rd round selection and what the team may do...

Will the front office make a splash via trade to move up or stand pat... Is there a chance that they move down to garner an additional pick?

Will one of these five players on our roster be moved in a trade?:

• RB Bilal Powell
• SS Rontez Miles
• LB Lorenzo Mauldin
• QB Bryce Petty
• OG James Carpenter

the idea would be to send a player with say our 4th round pick for someone's 3rd ( a team picking in the back end of the third )... That is the only way we could send one or a few off the roster to maneuver around the draft without packaging future picks or late round options on day 2...

if a prospect like Guard Braden Smtih from Auburn falls to us in the 3rd round, then we would be smart to get back into the 3rd for DT/NT Derrick Nnadi from Florida State... Now I am not sure how high the team hold either of these prospects but Braden Smith could replace James Carpenter as a day one starter... Maybe the team package a couple late round picks to move into the back of the second round, who knows...

Derrick Nnadi might be considered undersized nose tackle but his motor makes him a viable option as an every down player...

As for the final prospect they may be looking at is ER Lorenzo Carter from Georgia which like Braden Smith could go in the 2nd round...

Potential 3rd RD Steals for tonight?

Possible 3rd RD steals?

Please don't give me guys who are 2nd RD locks.

I want guys who have a real chance to be there for the Jets tonight in RD 3, but have the potential to be 3rd RD steals.

I'll start, I mean someone like this ...

Equanimeous St. Brown, WR, Notre Dame: 6' 5" / 215 / 4.48

Similar to DJ Chark (LSU) who I believe is a 2nd RD lock, Brown's numbers were unimpressive due to sucky QB play, but this kid has a terrific size/speed ratio and he can catch the ball and make plays when you actually give him a chance to catch the ball and make plays. Chark is almost identical, but I suspect Chark is more likely to go in RD 2 due to an explosive Senior Bowl, whereas Brown might slide to RD 3.

I think (hope?) Mac looks at the 2019 roster and cap situation when he makes his picks. Beachum, Winters and Long will account for $21mm of cap space in '19 with only $1.5mm of dead money if they're cut. I don't think there are any replacements for these guys currently on the roster. A guard, center and tackle would be ideal picks today and tomorrow. An OLB is needed and there should be several players in play in round 3. A DL is also needed but Mac still has the option of signing Hankins so unless there's incredible value for a lineman I would just as soon look elsewhere. Mac may take a RB in the mid-rounds hopefully someone who can also return kicks. I'm still scratching my head on the Seahawks taking Penny last night.

Without next year's second round pick, I don't see an opportunity to move up but Mac needs to add potential future starters in the next 24 hours.

Sorry, I don't see any trade value for any of them except Powell combined with a pick and even then not much. As far as Petty, I don't think you could even give him away. If we don't trade up we will be pick # 48, I believe, not sure, or close anyway and there should still be a few good choices, maybe not the ones we aspire to get, but,good players none the less to fill positions of need. There should be a couple of good edge rushers still there at least.

Petty has no place on the Jets. I’d be happy if we could package Petty with our 3rd rounder to move up a little bit into the 2nd round.

If by some chance we could move up a little and get G Will Hernandez, that would be awesome. He’s a nasty man. A road grading beast who could start right now and really toughen up the o-line. He’ll probably go quickly in the 2nd though.

Hernandez to the Giants is a killer. Wow did the Giants get a gem in him. So did the Browns with Chubb. Their draft starts to shape up pretty nice now. Could have been a killer with with Darnold or Rosen and Nelson or Chubb instead of Mayfield and that DB but oh well.
