Is Guice not as good as I think? The Bucs took a RB from USC instead of Guice.
So who was telling the truth? The NFL under its habitually lying commissioner Roger Goodell? Or former LSU tailback Derrius Guice?
I'm going with Guice over Goodell's goons, thank you very much. But in the end on Thursday night, Guice lost and fell out of the first round of the NFL Draft amid mysterious, unspecified and inaccurate characterizations of his character, even though he was at AT&T Stadium for the festivities in Arlington, Texas, as he was invited before the unfounded rumors started.
Guice, a rambunctious, capricious and sometimes silly, but great kid of 20 years old, said in March on the "Late Hits" Sirius XM radio show that a representative of a NFL team said the following to him at the Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana, in February:
"Hey, I heard your mom sells herself. How do you feel about that?"
Guice also said another team asked him if he liked men.
“The investigation did not confirm that any club made the reported inquiries,” NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy said in an email to USA Today Sports. “Nonetheless, we used this opportunity to reaffirm our workplace standards and emphasize the importance of fully complying with all requirements of federal and state law. The NFL and each of its member clubs remain fully committed to fair and non-discriminatory employment practices.”
