There are plenty of talent out there that is sitting in depth for teams whereas those particular players would be an optimal get for us to continue our rebuild process while bolstering certain aspects of our roster...
1) If there is any team that may agree to a deal to trade for Mo Wilkerson before the third day of the new league year would be the Oakland Raiders whom have a need and enough cap space to acquire his rights... Unfortunately don't see Maccagnan lowering his asking price to send Mo packing to an AFC West team... Wouldn't ask a steep price but would ask for a package deal... A 4th round pick in this upcoming draft and the rights to Tackle Vadal Alexander... Some may look at this type of deal skewed a bit but in reality we are looking to improve every part of our roster and our offensive line was straight offensive this past season...
2) Continuing with the improvement or adjustment of this offensive line would look to another AFC team, the Baltimore Ravens if we can swing a deal to acquire interior lineman/OG Jermaine Eluemunor... Eluemunor would be a major step up from the likes of Dakota Dozier and Brian Winters... If we could swing a 4th round pick for Jermaine it would be ideal move...
3) Still offensive line, would approach our cross town alumni in Big Blue to see if they are willing to part ways with a 5th round pick and rights to Adam Bisnowaty for the services of Kelvin Beachum... For the Giants they need to build around keeping Eli Manning some what up right and Beachum would be a major upgrade at their RT need after cutting Bobby Hart today...
4) The final trade to help fix our offensive line would be with Maccagnan's former employers the Houston Texans... Guard Dorian Johnson would be an optimal get for us, a developing road grader run blocking interior lineman that is used to the wacky weather up north would be a perfect fit for our much needed improvement along the offensive line... We probably could offer James Carpernter a veteran lineman in a deal that the Texans would fork over a 5th round pick with D. Johnson...
5) This is the final move, and probably the most debatable one... Trade Bilal Powell to the Detrioit Lions for a 3rd round pick... Lions have been in need of a do it all back for the last 6 years at least and Powell on the near end of his career would be the lead man in Detroit... For us, we will be likely parting ways with the Old One Matt Forte, looking to find continuity with Elijah McGuire being our number one... Both Jahad Thomas and Akeem Judd could be contention to make one of the two roster spots next season opening the door for another RB draft selection this year...
So reiterating these moves we would part ways from Mo Wilkerson, Kelvin Beachum and James Carpenter while picking up two offensive tackles, two offensive guards leaving us the need to target a center in the draft... Both Bisnowaty and Alexander are currently 23 next year will be 24... Both Dorian Johnson and Jermaine Eluemunor are currently 22 next year 23... Add in if we draft Billy Price who will also only be 23 next year we could have a young developmental group that will grow with each other moving forward... We currently have Ben Braden on our practice squad add in possibly signing his former teammate Jarron Jones and Brandon Shell, this could arguably go from one of the worst to one of the most intriguing groups next season...
Understand this we need flexible tackles and run blocking guards that can kick block out on screens and outside runs either by the RB or WR end rounds... To move one piece acquire a draft and then use that draft to make another trade happen is not only smart of much needed... Making two other trades, while acquiring a pick in each deal will give us late round ammo to move up if we need too...
Without parting ways with any of our current stockpile of picks but actually stacking a few more to our current stockpile makes these type of moves not only acceptable but would continue the youth movement... Now I don't know if Maccagnan has the real set of balls to go out and make these deals happen, but if he does this or these type of moves would give us a better fighting chance not only to continue the massive rebuild through youth by way of the draft, free agency and via trades... Can we simply sign away in free agency and hope we select the right prospects in the draft, of course but we have an opportunity to make some negative situations into positive ones...
