I’d be on board with this also. Im warming up to Love at 2 and dumping Breece for picks. #16 has got to be a receiver option ( I like Saddiq) . What Im confused about is this talk of Bailey at 2. Bailey and WMD wont work together (weak against the run) so you cant play them both at the same time. Unless they have some plan to trade WMD that we dont know of…..Bailey makes no sense
I think Bailey is just smoke. Agree completely. We don't need another 3 rd down pass rusher. Mougey trying to keep other GMs guessing. I'm all in on Saddiq at 16 too. I would still draft a WR in round 2, best avail at 33 and CB or safety at 44.

Wondering why Styles isn't more in the discussion at #2 or after trade down at #4. He's a bit bigger and has a more complete game at this point than both Reese and Bailey. 16 is where it gets real interesting for me. The popular selection is WR, whereas if either Ioane (PSU IOL) or Sadiq is available then you have to seriously consider one of them. Sadiq would be very interesting in that you could run a lot of 2 TE (Sadiq and Taylor) sets with Wilson and Mitchell on the outside. So instead of picking the 4th-6th best WR at 16 you are getting a unicorn TE/big slot there. I'm intrigued with Sadiq but seriously doubt he'll be there. Which brings me to Ioane, completes the OL and sets up a young QB ('27 draftee) for success. Should be very interesting to see how Mougey navigates this year's draft.

Thing is, we have a 6'7" TE who was a pass-catching phenom in his rookie season, Jelani Woods, but Engstrand only used him as a blocker. He has been re-signed so perhaps Reich will give him a shot downfield. If we took Sadiq we would have too many first string TEs.

Similarly I'm not giving up on Arian Smith until I see him fail at the role we drafted him for, long-ball threat. Engstrand used him for jet sweeps.

Dane Brugler's mock draft for the Jets.
I could live with it.
1 (2). Arvell Reese, edge, Ohio State
1 (16). Makai Lemon, WR, USC
2 (33). Avieon Terrell, CB, Clemson
2 (44). Caleb Banks, DT, Florida
4 (103). Drew Allar, QB, Penn State
4 (140). Nick Singleton, RB, Penn State
5 (179). Kage Casey, G, Boise State
7 (228). Tyre West, DL, Tennessee
7 (242). Jackson Kuwatch, LB, Miami (Ohio)

I think Styles not in the mix is purely based on positional value. Every rumor and projection is just that. No one knows what the Jets board actually looks like.

Woods was never a pass catching phenomenon.
He averaged 1.6 catches per game! 25 in 15 games. Taylor had 44 in 13 games.
He was primarily a blocker in his rookie year. Struggled with drops and getting the ball stripped, is limited in route running and was the 5th TE on the depth chart last season. He only played in 4 games and they were late in the year due to injuries. He is on an exclusive rights tender with zero guarantee money and no dead cap if released. In no world is he a #1 TE. Not even on the putrid 2025 roster.
He was a developmental project when drafted, and missing his second and third years due to injury, stalled his possible. development.
Smiths value is primarily on special teams. He's a track star but a terrible receiver. His route tree is near nonexistent but it did improve. Tremendous straight line speed but slows with change of direction. Also slows at the top of his rout to track the ball negating separation. Catches with his body hence his high drop rate. Easily jamed by press coverage and has a habit of running into defenders instead of past them. Very low contested catch rate too.He ran 4 jets sweeps, 200 routes with over 70 percent of then being deep balls. Any coach would try him at Jet sweeps. With his speed he should be able to create plays. But it's not like that was his primary role. 4 attempts...

When I read about Styles, I see a combine all pro. A guy who got one sack last season. Now, he may be great

But, I think of a guy the Jets took out of OSU. Who was great at the combine. I think we took him #6 Vern Gholston.....

Hard to get sacks when your being used in coverage. He was widely considered the best player in the draft prior to the combine. It's not like he rose up the rankings based on his combine performance. That just confirmed even more potential.

The Giants made significant move in trading Lawrence to the Bengals. #10 overall. Big price to pay for Lawrence imo. He's no spring chicken and wants a mega deal. Giants make a smart one.

The Bengals are in a win now mode with JB's window tightening, so they're desperate and this trade is evidence of that. The Giants are sitting pretty now with #s 5 and 10.

Among the two rumored choices at #2, I see it this way.
Bailey will make offensive tackles sweat.
Reese will make offensive coordinators wake up screaming.
Even though I don't generally like players from THE Ohio State University, I'm going with Reese.
