Well a lot is going to change between now and the draft but for me the choice right now before the Combine is Bain.
The Kid is a force on the field.
My concern is that they draft Ty Simpson at 16 or some other up and comer who shows well at the Combine. Big mistake imo.

First off, I like Bain too. He is definitely a game changer. I share your concern about drafting a QB as well, sort of. I think that, like I said about Mendoza and Moore, none of this years QB class are NFL starter ready, MY OPINION. They are both high potential as is Ty Simpson, but I think they need to be glued to the bench for a time and develop not just thrown into the fire. Handled in that way I'm good with drafting any one of them, of course Moore is off the board and the Raiders likely will draft Mendoza. That leaves Simpson, who was initially expected to be a top of round one QB. If the Jets can get a decent Vet QB or two to sign then I think I'd be fine with them drafting Simpson. Otherwise concentrate on rebuilding the sucky defense.

If Simpson is still there in the later rounds then fine, just not at #2 or #16. Remember that the 'sucky defense' has a lot of starters coming back from injury next year. And a good DC doesn't need a shedload of top picks to produce a serviceable D.

NO.....don't take Simpson at 2. Definitely not. And I might add, we don't know if we are going to get a good DC yet. If the Jets hire the guy I told them too then we might have a winner. I'm just afraid that Woody will cheap out and we won't get that guy because several other teams want him and it will probably take a lot of money to get him to come here.

No good DC is coming here

we maybe can keep the guy who just filled in. If he’s smart, then not him either

Gram I agree with you wholeheartedly.
If they give the Kid a clipboard and let him sit and learn I would be ecstatic.
You and I both know that would probably not be the case.
If the HC was more secure perhaps I would be more inclined to them drafting a young QB.
What's Glenn and his "staff" going to teach the Kid?
How to dance?
Hopefully the guy they eventually draft will have a competent Coach who can actually bring out the best in the Kid.
That guy ain't here yet.
We all suspect that I think.
Even the guys who support Glenn.

I'm one of those guys who neither supports or non supports Glenn. It's hard to be too critical because it's his first time at bat as a head coach, BUT, he should have taken Steve Wilks out behind the woodshed and kicked his butt after the 1st few games. It was obvious he only had one plan and it wasn't working. Whether we like him or not he's here for at least another season, probably longer. Mougey has built him a pretty good player base and if between the two of them they do some good things in the free agency period, they have the capital they need, get rid of the players that are just getting by, and close it all out with a good draft, he might look a lot better to all of us who have been disappointed.
Now we just have to pray that they do make good decisions and deals during the off season. It may be too much to ask for. They can start by hiring the DC I told them to.

I tried to support Glenn I really did.
As the Season went on it became harder.
I just can see the same old mistakes being made.
There was no growth, no in game adjustments, hell most of the time Glenn looked like he was a spectator at the game not the Coach.
Wink Martindale cmon down.
You're the next one up on the Coaching Carousel.
Just a Sideshow until they hire an established HC.
Who will it be?
Your guess is as good as mine.

I agree. I wanted him to be the guy, but he just sounds,
looks and does everything as if he’s clueless

Just between you and me, no one else will read this, I really, really hope they don't hire Wink. Yes, he's well known and experienced. He's certainly better than what we had,............BUT............. I don't want to sound like I'm down on old people because I am one. I don't recall his actual age but that's not the problem. His football mind is old and stale. The game has changed in so many ways that he hasn't kept up with and he hasn't coached at this level in several years. I have heard that he desperately wants the job. That alone scares me. I do think that he's better than at least 3 others on that 8 man list and I had him as my 4th option I think. We really need a guy that's more up to date on the nuances of today's NFL football.
