OREGON VS OKLAHOMA ST
Dante Moore lost the game but secured a big endorsement deal with depends... He really shit himself vs a team comming off 12 consecutive losses . He had 2 TDs first was a deep pass that died around the 2 yardline that would have been incomplete if not picked against a better opponent. The second was a nice pass to a wide open reciever. Given an extended time to throw he is dangerous but under any pressure he falters. Overall a very poor performance.
Mestemaker outplayed Moore by a wide margin. He did have 2 passes batted leading to 2 picks, the first a 96 yard pick 6.
He showed great athleticism again and the ability to make plays off script, some thing Moore can't do. He had 2 nice TD passes, rushed for over 100 yard with a key TD run and ran for a first down to seal the Game.
Some good matches tonight...
---------------------------------------------------------
CJ Carr. Im going to put this performance in the same throw away category as I did Mensahs . He had 2 beautiful passes and lots of screens and under 5 yard passes that went for big gains. Looked great but never pressured. Absolutely no level of competition to fairly judge his performance. Better match ups ahead to get an accurate assessment.
---------------------------------------------------------
Arch Manning. Talk about playing like a Jet..
First possesion completed a pass to his rb who fumbled it away deep in the red zone, second possession threw an absolute dime 55+ yards ,reciever stumbled making the catch ball popped up as reciever hits the ground and gets caught by a trailing defender. He took a bad sack on the third possession. Held on too long trying to make a play and lost alot of yardage, should have thrown it away. He looked good on 4th drive but wingo dropped an easy TD on a beautiful 40 yard pass. Finally gets a TD on a 15 play drive, he had 3 long runs and several perfectly placed balls. A rb fumble and a couple of drops but capped with a beautiful TD pass. Next drive perfect pass,9 yard run, great pass. Got next pass of to avoid a sack , 2 handoffs for TD. Final drive 2 great pass, run great pass run, beautiful pass. Run to tie it up. He carried Texas to a win vs the #1 team in the country. By far the most impressive showing of the week.
---------------------------------------------------------
Sayin was pretty impressive and his recievers made some difficult catches , were running free and Smith took the ball away from defender on a couple of plays. How they came up short is hard to believe
‐--------------------------------------------------------

Trinidad Chambliss. Underwhelming is all I can say. He throws a tight laser and follows it up with a wounded duck. Its not a matter of mechanics breaking down under duress, its just inconsistency. I will credit him with a beautiful TD pass to start the 4th qtr. Hit his reciever in stride on a quick slant between the corner and safety. Overall I expected more from such low level competition. Has not shown anything yet to make him a day 1 pick.

Glad Moore didn't come out last year because the Jets would have taken him.

These are exactly my thoughts. I backed off my stance of wanting to see Klubnik play this year over Geno. I would rather see Geno play the entire year and the Jets to do well. Like make the playoffs well. Only problem with that is, I don’t have any real faith in Geno that he won’t get hurt and/or play well to make that happen.

If he does then great but that won’t really answer the question of whether or not Klubnik can take the reins and be a franchise player when Geno is done. Gotta see the kid in game action to truly know that. So the Jets might be in a true dilemma here but it might very well be a good one. We’ll see!

I just keep thinking that if Klubnik is the guy, what the Jets can do with these draft picks over the next few years. Hell, the next decade or so.

The Texas game plan in the 1st half was crap imo.
Going outside on OSU's D is not smart.
They made adjustments and Manning was able to make those in game changes. That's a great sign for me.
I thought both Defenses played well against two great Offenses.
Sayin was gifted a few receptions as his wideouts bailed him out.
He made some really good throws and I liked what I saw.
All in all a great game and Arch gets a trophy🏆 because He was the better player today.

If Geno takes the Jets to the playoffs then the issue of whether Klubnik is 'the guy' can be parked. Geno has several more seasons in him and we have three #1 draft picks next year to further improve the squad.

Great point! I can work with that if this happens.

Even if Geno takes them to the playoffs, if the Colts or Cowboys pick is early enough they should still draft a QB. Let him develop behind Geno for the 2027 season.

Julian Sayin (Ohio State) and Darian Mensah (Miami) stand out as the most accurate and efficient quarterbacks in this college year.
problem in evaluating them is they are throwing into tractor trailer sized windows with receivers having mismatches in talent on the DBs. I don't knowe that i'll ever trust a Buckeye college QB....they just are spoiled.

The narrative will change dramatically once the NFL season is over and pro scouts get to spend more time on tape. I don't believe in anything i see during the college season until the pro scouts get these kids in the classroom.

Julian Sayin (Carlsbad High School, Carlsbad, CA)
Sayin was a consensus five-star recruit and one of the most decorated high school passers in the Class of 2024. He capped off his career by winning the Elite 11 Finals MVP and the Gatorade California Player of the Year.

SeasonPassing YardsPassing TDsInterceptionsCompletion %Rushing TDs
2021 (Sophomore)2,76934571.5%2
2022 (Junior)2,70827466.5%3
2023 (Senior)2,36924175.5%4
Varsity Total7,970861070.6%9

The breakdown of his competition environment includes:
  • Top-Tier Division: Carlsbad High School competed in the CIF San Diego Section Open Division. In California high school football, the "Open Division" is explicitly reserved for the top four to eight powerhouses in the entire region, meaning Sayin routinely played against elite, playoff-hardened rosters.
  • League Dominance: He played in the Avocado League, historically one of the premier and most physical public school leagues in San Diego county. Sayin was named the Avocado League Offensive MVP for three consecutive seasons while leading Carlsbad to five straight league titles.
  • National Caliber Peer Testing: Because of Southern California's dense concentration of football talent, his week-to-week competition featured numerous future Division I defensive backs, linebackers, and pass rushers. This high-level environment is a major reason scouts considered him one of the most mechanically polished and mentally advanced quarterback recruits in the country.

unlike Sayin, Mensah was a one year starter in high school but albeit he flew under the radar his current work shows up:

  • Top Central Section Division: St. Joseph High School competed in CIF Central Section Division 1. While the Central Section (Fresno and Bakersfield areas) is historically known for physical, hard-nosed football, St. Joseph was elevated to the top playoff tier to compete with regional powerhouses like Clovis East.
  • League Dominance: He played in the Mountain League, which is the highest and most rigorous athletic tier for high schools in the San Luis Obispo and Santa Maria areas. Mensah was named the Mountain League Football MVP after commanding the Knights to a dominant 10–2 season.
  • Under-the-Radar Pipeline: The Central Coast does not attract the same concentrated weekly media attention from recruiting services as San Diego or Los Angeles. Because of this local geography, Mensah was evaluated as a two-to-three-star recruit despite elite individual production and playing against first-tier regional public and private school defenses.

remember for me college is just a stepping stone, where they came from the league competition means more to me then just college statistics. only 1% of college players have a chance to make a jump to the NFL. but being selected by a top tier school there is a reason behind that scholarship. looking back to find out the player they were in high school, were they that productive then as they are now, if so then to follow them means slightly more knowing their foundation is solid. production at both levels is challenging for any signal caller but in high school playing against top tier statewide talent gives them something that others don't, the winning attitude but also how to work hard to improve their game.
