I will get killed for saying this but if possible, they need to move Coples on the line as a back up. Trade Wilkerson now before we lose him next year and get nothing in return. Unless he will be a restricted FA. They can or I would look for them to get a young (23-25 yr old) beast LB and maybe a draft pick. I know it sounds crazy and I will get killed on this but it is what it is.

I disagree. They will not lose Mo next year. They will either lock him up or Franchise him .I agree with Sarge's position battle, but disagree that Giacomini is a lock. He was Idzik's choice and IMO not very good.

no need to trade mo now. they will try to sign him (and have added leverage having drafted williams), and worst case, they can tag him after the year and either (i) keep him under the tag, (ii) try again on an extension, or (iii) try to trade him.

why would you want to weaken the team today for a draft pick next year? we'd still have the ability to trade him next year if we are destined for a divorce (tag and trade a la john abraham). but hopefully they can work out an extension and have a dominant d-line. i think we will run enough 4-3 and 4-2-5 looks, along with needing to rotate d-lineman to find plenty of playing time for the stacked d-line.

I think given mangold's age and the way Freeman played in his absence he has a spot petty much also.

Not just trading him for a draft pick but trading him a young monster LB. Is this even possible, I don't know and its probably not. I can't even think of a team that would be willing to give up a LB like David from TB to get Mo for example. There will probably be no takers but if there were, why not look into it. Our HC seems to be strictly a 3-4 guy and don't know of him ever running a 4-3 or 4-2-5. I could be wrong though.

Our D-line is boss right now, with or without Mo. Now that we have Williams anyway. Our LBs is a weakness. Harris is older and slower, Davis is capable and we are good with him but we are struggling with the rest our LBs. Pace is over the hill, Coples is a DE playing LB who may never truly convert like we would want him to. The rookie drafted we don't know about yet. Just a thought/throwing it out there but I know the Jets would never do it.

Yeah, they've got Wilk for this season and next regardless. His contract runs out after this season, but they can still franchise him if need be.

The Jets will NEVER lose MO for nothing.....Mo is not going anywhere...
