5 Players More Likely to be Drafted by Jets a #6 now than 3 days ago

I still think the 4 more likely players to be drafted by the Jets if they stay at #6 are Mariotta, White, Cooper, and Fowler, however, I think these 5 players are now at least somewhat more likely to be drafted as a result of recent activity

  1. Vic Beasley OLB Clemson - Add a top pass rusher to the mix and the defense might just be good enough to carry the whole team to the playoffs (Fowler also fits this scenario)
  2. Danny Shelton DT Washington - Fantastic player who could clog up the middle for the next 12 years - if we lose Kendrick Ellis, Shelton could step in with Harrison to make an awesome 1-2 punch
  3. Arik Armstead DE/DT Oregon - Everyone says he reminds them of Calias Campbell - Todd Bowles likes that analogy
  4. Landon Collins S Bama - Landon Collins is a lot like Calvin Pryor, a big in the box safety who can tackle and blitz. He's not a deep safety but hey, Bowles could figure out something to do with him
  5. Todd Gurley RB UGA - Yes, he's hurt, but reports are he's on track to be back to 100% by Fall. Could be an elite RB prospect and team with Ivory and Powell to give the Jets a crazy RB corps

No way do we or anyone take an injured RB at #6 . Love to have Gurley though with 2nd round pick. We need a top WR or pass rusher.

Yes on Beasley, very likely actually. If I were to place money, I'd say Beasley or Gregory will be a Jet.

Huge no to the rest as they are all duplicates to strong starters on the roster. Gurley might very well be our 2nd round pick.

Respectfully..I think no on Collins..too early

No on Gurley..unless trade back..NO RB is worth 6th pick especially coming off a surgery..didnt we take Milner coming off a surgery..I mean they say"hes on track to be 100 percent by fall" what are they going to say..and that is vague anyway...

Others viable..but OLB/DE most viable....the one thing they need now to really put the defense over the top is a scary outside pass rusher....Beasley, Fowler, Gregory, Ray, Dupree

With their defense..the NT is less important than OLB edge guy..in my humble opinion

i don't see a S or RB as even remotely possible. especially a box safety who appears to be similar to the guy we took in the 1st last year and a RB coming off a torn ACL. not at #6

If Mariota is off the board I'd be fine drafting Beasley, Fowler, Gregory at 6 (if available and in no particular order).
We need an edge rusher that can get to the QB; it would greatly change the dynamic of our defense.

Gregory or Beasley, maybe a lineman like Shereff. Perhaps a trade down if Cleveland really wants someone.

Agree.

If the Jets take a S again, hockey season will start very early for me. Go Rangers

I think WR is off the board for the Jets a 6. Maybe in the 2nd, depending who is available. If Mariota is gone, and Cooper is on the board, I could see a trade down.

Pass rusher is the one element that could make this defense dominate. Think that's where they go unless something else bizarre happens with Chip

Sack, If we go Shereff G I'll be pissed off ! We just spent a boat load on Carpenter, and we don't know the status of Dozier or Winters ?

We need youth and talent @ WR with Cooper or White. And we need a pass rushing OLB not DE once we put Coples back on the DL. Gregory has been the consensus #1 pass rusher, but he looks too skinny for me, and I think Fowler will be off the board. Vic Beasley @ the Combines looks like a pure stud to me, but I still prefer Cooper WR.

Shereff translates as much at RT as he does at G.

If we can find a trade partner, trade down. Beasley added weight for the combine and looked like a Beast, but can he maintain and play at that weight?

Sack, Is that your theory, because I have heard nor read anyone saying he's a future RT ? Plus when we dump Breno after this season we can slide Carpenter to RT where he belongs and by then Dozier or Winters will be ready ? You must not have watched him in the Tennessee bowl game, because Shereff played like he was on roller skates ! We have too many other holes, but you being an X OL, I know you get excited over them !

I think Schreff is one of the guys who is LESS likely to be the pick at #6 after the last few days. Trae Waynes, who was never going #6 anyway is now less likely to be the pick too. You could argue both WRs are less likely as well, but still possibilities

While it's been done, I would never select a RT with a 1st rounder, much less a top 6 pick.
If Scherff is selected, it would be at LG for which Carpenter was signed for. Carpenter cannot play RT as he's suspect in run blocking. I don't see this pick materializing.

I think WR is a little ridiculous for the same reasons you mention at CB and LG at this juncture. I see this idea floated around here. Who drafts in the top 6 only to have that draftee sit? And what, you're going to sit Decker or Marshall with the money they command? And don't even argue he's going to play the slot. A top 6 player in the slot? I don't think so.
Meanwhile we have a gaping hole at one OLB position. Guess where we're going?

I think most likely, the Jets go young pass rusher, like Gregory, unless Mariota drops to them, in which case they either take him or trade down.
