Aaron Rodgers

My question is will A-Rod want to return after all he has to go through at 40? We all would love to see him on this team leading them deep in the playoffs and maybe even more but at 40, what will he do? Hopefully he’ll AT LEAST want to still be apart of the team and continue to mentor Zach and everyone else. Even if that’s from a distance!
I hear they are offering him Walter Brennans part on a new remake of the real McCoys when he recovers from his operation.

Damn I’m going to miss Aaron Rodgers! The possibilities with him were unlimited. The way that defense, special teams and the skilled players played, this was a SUPER BOWL WINNING TEAM! The Jets should already put him in the Jets hall of fame or ring of honor, just for the hope and possibilities he brought to this team. Hopefully he can bounce back from this and play a year or two for us. My question is if Zach plays halfway decent this year, what do they do then, if Rodgers wants and is able to come back?

Yeah imagine this...Zach loses his job to Mike White. They made T-shirts. Then they toss him aside for Rodgers. Rodgers gets hurt on his 4th fucking' play. Then Zach plays halfway decent and Rodgers comes back and they demote him again for a 40 year broken QB. This only happens with the Jets.

So, I thought the Jets might have a chance this season, but I saw more a team that lost in the playoffs, maybe conference title game. I had gone into this thinking the window was 2-3 years. My assumption was that their best opportunity would be the 2024 season. I believed this long before Rodgers hurt himself. The team was pretty loaded, but we all knew OT was a question mark. By next season, Tippmann should be solidifying C, you have AVT. Sign a starting tackle, draft another, and the team is set to roll.

To me, 2024 being the year remains true. I am hoping for a full recovery by Rodgers for the year. The good news is that this didn't happen late in the season, after the 65% threshold had been hit. It happening this early in the season also allows him more time for a recovery. It won't be easy for a man about to turn 40, but Vinny was in his late 30s when he made a full comeback from his Achilles in a year. And by the end of this year, we will know for sure whether Zach is worth the fifth year option or not.

Use the first rounder and whatever cap room you can get for this upcoming season to upgrade at OT. Lose some of the older contracts, keep the key young guys, and hit the ground running to conquer the league in 2024.

And then what disaster happens in 2024??

While everyone had time to feel what they're feeling, I'm left with this question to ponder. Why did Rodgers call two pass plays that had our tackles attempt cut blocks (which were somewhat ineffective btw) and then decide to hold the ball when the quick slants were open both times? Then I read somewhere that Rodgers is not in favor of cut blocks because he prefers using the time to survey the defense. Cut blocks are setup to aid the OL. They don't need to block long. So by design Rodgers was supposed to get the ball out early. He chose to hold it and scramble. If he's so against cut blocks then why call them and fail to execute? We all know he has the authority to change any play called or seen pre-snap.

Shannon Sharpe said the same exact thing pretty much! He said the injury was on Rodgers. That was a designed three step drop and the ball was supposed to be out of his hands immediately after the third step but he waited too long looking down the field. He also said that the olinemen/tackle did his job and cut blocked the defender to make his hand hit the ground. Aaron holding onto the ball to long and looking for a different read caused him to get sacked and injured. I was never a QB so what do I know but I do know this, I will miss Aaron Rodgers greatly and I wish he was back but he’s not. So it time to rally around Zach and pray for the best!

Part of me thinks he tweaked his calf on the first pass play which made him hesitate.

One of the benefits of a cut block on a quick slant is that it generally forces the DL's hands down for a brief second. It opens up lanes. But it is also dependent on a very, very quick release. Without a quick release, the DL can recover and the OL is out of position. There is no chance for a good, long pass set by the OL, or for him to hold off the rush.
