JD is doing the right thing. Wait out Green Bay. We don't need Rodgers till after the Draft. We do the Draft, pick our players and offer a 2nd day draft pick next year.
Of course. I just wanted to reset the recent past with this Rodgers' drama. Give me five minutes and I can come up with a thousand scenarios I would change in Jet history. Maybe even obliterate several dating decisions I made a s young man.
I'm just curious as to why. Is there a timeline? I mean, other than the fans being frustrated over how long it is taking, what is the timeline? He knows the system already, and has chemistry with at least some of the WR corps. Basically, the only thing this delay does is force the Packers to decide whether they would rather have the 2023 draft compensation or whether they would rather wait until after June 1 to offset their cap hit over multiple years.
To me the timeline would be post draft. You want him and the receivers to get started on OTAs so the can work on their chemistry
Absolutely. There is a plan in place. Just because it doesn’t meet the impatient fan base timeline doesn’t mean anything to those making the decisions, as it 100% should not. No chance GB will let this deal fall through. If it does, Rogers retires and they are on the hook for a crap load of cash the next 2 seasons.

There is absolutely no reason for the Jets to hurry. Green Bay on the other hand is tied up in this trade. They have to trade Rogers because if he remains a Packer when the season starts what they will have to pay him will destroy them financially for at least 2 years. They are in bad shape cap wise. They don't want Rogers back and they know he doesn't want to come back. The Jets are their only option right now for a trade. As mentioned he is already familiar with the Jets offense. If they intend to use the picks they get from the Jets in this upcoming draft they will have to come to an agreement pretty soon. Although they don't have to deal until just before the season starts it is not to their advantage to wait. Time is no longer on their side.
The same is basically true if they keep him. They've lost key players and are trying to rebuild and his salary and cap hinder that effort greatly. Of course it will do the same thing to the Jets as well but they are in a little better position to deal with it.

Everyone can speculate who has the leverage here. Jets are clearly desperate for a QB, and definitely painted themselves into a corner. But this stalemate seems to clearly be affecting the Packers more.

So true..................but the Jets aren't desperate for a QB. If the Jets continue to improve the "O" line and replace the defensive linemen they lost to free agency either in free agency or the draft there are other QBs out there looking for a team that are far better options than Zach. The Jets want the best but don't necessarily need the best to be competitive. If they keep him you think he will play? I do not at all. And they have already moved on to Jordan L. If they decide to keep him Rogers will 100% retire triggering his bonuses to be paid in full this year and the next.
