I truly thought Seattle was going to franchise him and upset the team's equilibrium to our benefit.
He just became the highest paid safety in thel eague. $17.5mm/year, 38MM guaranteed.
Terrific ballplayer, his attitude awful.

They probably caved to avoid the media circus that the Jets went through with him........................................

As recently as yesterday he was arguing he was a linebacker as they get a higher pay scale for being franchised than
safeties. He's the defensive version of OBJ.

I don't want to create any bad karma by saying what I really think.
might as well, everyone else has . This is this kid's job and all he did was requested to be paid what he think he's worth just like all of us do at our jobs. His 1st boss didn't want to deal with him so he got rid of him . His next boss played hard ball with him but came to the realization that the kid was worth paying . I simply don't see the problem but that's just me .
The Jets got what they wanted for Adams and Adams got what he wanted as compensation for his work .

Generally writing here, I believe in players getting as much as they can while they can. He accepted their final offer which is a good one in my opinion. The question I have is now that the market for safeties is what it is, what do we do with Maye? He is much less visible in regards to airing out his displeasure with his contract negotiations. Tagging him isn't the long term answer. Should we pay him or trade him before it becomes an issue. I'm looking to see how this organization treat their draftees after their rookie deals expire. So far, no second contracts with money available. Eventually this will determine the growth of this franchise. Can't develop what you don't keep.

Adams took a hard line, then took the Packers last and final offer, which is still too much for Adams, but still less than he wanted, from what I’ve read.
He’ll be a happy, Pom poms guy this year, as long as they’re winning.
He’ll be happy next season, possibly, but I bet he has an issue or two with the organization in the off-season.
Year 3 of this deal, when theactual dual elite safety’s get there $$, he’s going to start crowing again, he won’t be able to help himself. That is, if he stays healthy these next two seasons.
