I believe it was his first game in the NFL where he had two long TDs. I wet myself then and thought to myself we finally picked a good wr. That was his peak......

Yeah, it was against the Bills. Don't think he caught another TD like that until opening day the following year against the Bills again.

If the Jets only played the Bills Hill would be on his way to the HOF

He did the pretty darn quietly. Hard to tell what he is. Is he better or have the potential to be better than Keller? Scouted that way. A lot riding on the signal caller

It's what geno and Amaro excelled with in college. Finally the jets pick a system that meets there qbs strengths.
Sanchez was a west coast qb,the jets switch to martys west coast offense the year they draft geno, a spread offense qb. It was ridiculous.

I agree. Even if we draft a rookie high, I think there is a good chance geno starts the season as the starter (unless we pull off a miracle and trade for Foles or Bradford, I'd part with a 2nd for either). I think the thread system is a natural fit for harvin, Spiller, Amaro, and Geno...with Decker filling in as a deep threat and Ivory mixing in as a power back. If Geno doesn't shine in the preseason, it's his own fault...but I think there is a chance he'll shine.

Something to keep in mind about Amaro's rookie production was that he had to play 2nd fiddle to Cumberland. Based on his catch per target, Amaro would have caught a bunch more passes had he played as much as Cumberland. Some stats to consider:

Amaro played in 372 plays, caught 38 passes on 53 targets for 20 first downs; and
Cumberland played in 910 plays, caught 23 passes on 46 targets for 12 first downs.

Incredible to me that our coaching staff would continue to use Cumberland as much as they did, particularly knowing how bad a blocker Cumberland is.

The coaching staff did a horrible job integrating/ developing rookies outside of defensive lineman which I credit Dunbar for. That's why IMO, there was no way OBJ would've produced for us the way he did for the Giants(or any other rookie wr for that matter). Jets fans would've labeled him a bust because he missed training camp, the preseason, and the first four games of the season. then, when healthy, there was no way Rex and MM would give him the reps. Amaro clearly outproduced Cumberland, but it didn't matter. The coaches stuck with their favorites.

yep exactly great post. As long as we had the morons running the jets we had those great wr's would have sucked with us.

I totally agree with you on this. Rex always played his guys even if hurt or there was a better option.

Holy crap, positive response from Florio's team on a Jets player?!?!?!?!?!

Jace Amaro - TE - Jets
Jace Amaro dropped six passes on 52 targets last year, the second-highest percentage in the NFL.
Only Lamar Miller had a worse drop rate. Amaro's head was spinning as he went from Texas Tech's spread offense to Marty Mornhinweg's West Coast system and he finished with just 38-345-2. Now he has to learn another system, but Chan Gailey's spread scheme fits Amaro's skill set much better. As the clear-cut starter and a playmaker who needs to be detached from the line, there's TE2 appeal here. A higher comfort level should result in fewer drops for Amaro.
