Anyone else fed up with being told about 'analytics'? Usually used to justify 'going for it' on fourth and short in your own territory. The clue is in the first four letters. There are so many more intangibles that go into a decision like this than just a spreadsheet.

There's a logical procedure known as reductio ad absurdum that might apply here.
If we take analytics to its extreme, we end up with a 'puter as the ultimate offensive play caller. That's all well and good until we run into a little story.
In the not too distant future, you may well board a plane, stow your gear, buckle in, and hear the following announcement; "Welcome to Digital Airways Flight 10011. Your plane is controlled entirely by our mainframe computer. Relax as it guides you safely to your destination. Be assured that nothing can go wrong . . . go wrong . . . go wrong . . . ."
