First off, I’d like to say thank you to everyone that has been a member of NYJF during its first two months of existence. At first I was skeptical that I would even be able to get 10 members so the fact that we have reached 160 is remarkable to me. I know not all of our 160 members are active but the fact they took the time to sign up originally means a lot to me and Renegade since they saw some kind of potential in NYJF to become a great community. With your help it has become just that.
Now onto the announcement. We have been in talks with another forum, a small one just like ours about joining together. The big change is on them, nothing will change much on our end except we will have more people to discuss the New York Jets with. Their users will migrate here.
As an admin of a small site, my biggest fear is that there won’t be much discussion going on that will keep you guys coming back. I’ve been proven wrong so far but I am my mother’s son, and get anxiety and paranoia over the smallest things. This merger (for a lack of a better term) will help alleviate those fears and give us 50 new active members that are just as die-hard about the Jets as we are. Through and through this will be great for both groups of users. I hope you guys can trust my judgment. There is no $ involved so this is nothing like the JI/Scout conversion. I am not going to ask you to update your emails! (LOL) This is just so more content can be created by the most important aspect of any forum, the users.
Now here’s the funny part --- these guys are former SCOUT members that created their forum because they did not like the upcoming changes that were coming to their board with the merger of JI. They are rebels just like us! I looked at their board and truly believe they will fit right in with us. We will have a new administrator - Machina Verde. Renegade and I had a lengthy discussion with him and he is on board with our vision.
This should not lead to an “our board vs. their board” debate. We all have a common identity. We are all JETS fans so let’s welcome them here like we welcome every other new user that comes on board.
God bless you, and god bless the United States of America!
Best,
NYJF
