We'll never know how this would have turned out. I wanted a coach with a proven track record, like McCarthy, and would have been happy with him. I will say that Gase has put together a pretty good staff. Let's see how he does with an improved roster next year. I'm not giving him a pass this year at all - in fact, after the Miami and Cincy games I wanted him gone. But, Miami turned out to be better than we thought, and Cincy beat up our o-line. The bottom line is that he is here and he's our coach. So, let's see what he does in developing Darnold. His only saving grace is that Darnold really likes him and they are starting to get on the same page. That's probably the most important thing. So if they can figure it out together, we might have something.
