Antonio Cromartie Signs with Jets

This is really beginning to worry me, what in the hell are they doing with Wilk? This guy has only been the consummate team player and put his TRUST, his fate in the hands of the Jets FO. Figuring the guys that deserve to get paid WILL get paid. He's also thinking that with how impressive his play has been and how he's always worked hard, they would WANT to pay him?

Well, here we are and there are a bunch of players getting millions around him and he's gotten NOTHING. If the Jets manage to f*ck this up they will only have themselves to blame. They will also draw the fans ire if they burn this kid.

with all due respect, i don't think i've read a post by you where you don't complain about something.

why don't you give it a little time. we've seen reports they are working on an extension. how about saving the profanity-laced rants to when mo leaves the team because we couldn't sign him

It's funny as much as I would like to 'complete' the defense with a stud edge guy, and I have been tooting that horn for awhile, I'm not so sure now. It wouldn't shock me if we go all offense with the first three picks. Maybe La'el Collins at #6 , Gordon or Gurley in 2nd round or best available WR, and a QB in 3rd. Really have a bunch of different ways we can go, and to be honest I'd be pretty happy with several of the options. Very exciting indeed.

+1

It stinks we haven't had an edge rusher since Abraham, but IMO we HAVE to have a stud OL if we're going to war with Geno/Fitz, (and a potentially stud RB wouldn't hurt either).

Everyone says "you gotta have the franchise QB", but that's like saying "you gotta be in it to win it" -- sounds so easy/logical, but seemingly IMPOSSIBLE to make a reality. We may not be able to wish an elite QB onto the roster, but we CAN build as great a roster around the position as we can.

#6 will likely be too early for OL, but I still hope to see them emphasize the position . . .

Cro really wanted to be here and you need guys like that creates great lockerroom chemistry.

I have a feeling this team will gel faster than people think.

wow, that's huge news. great contract for the jets, as it's effectively a 1 year deal. worst case is he doesn't work out and they have to take a $1.5 million dead cap hit next year (or call him a post-june 1 cut and split that over 2 years).

goes to show that total contract amounts are largely meaningless.

Seems like it's a 1 year show me deal. If he stays healthy and plays at the top of his game he continues to to get paid good money.

If he doesn't play well next year, or if Milliner steps up and takes his spot (unlikely) he's gone with no cap damage.

Great deal for Jets. Top pay, for top play. Got to say the Jets seemed to have done a great job with these contracts

amending my above post - he is getting a roster bonus and not a signing bonus this year. which means that after 2015, there is zero guaranteed money due to cro and if we cut him, there is ZERO cap hit. a roster bonus is taken in the year paid. a signing bonus is amortized over the life of the contract and unamortized amounts are accelerated if the player is cut or traded.

Even better.

Looks like we might be holding onto Milliner after all.

Initially, I thought we overpaid for Cro, but i still thought we needed to pay up to shore up the CB position.

This news of only 7 million guaranteed is perfect. We can keep him or dump him next year.
