Are the Jets a playoff team in 2022?

I'd say definitely if the following happen.

Zach Wilson plays with an 85 rating.
None of the first 4 picks bust.
LB gets addressed.

Of course that's a lot of is. But we'd be top ten in just about every category.
We actually have players that other teams would want. So, we can't look at this team as middle-of-the-road.

If we go 8-9, JD would have essentially taken a 7-9 team and in 3 years turned it into an 8-9 team. I don't know JD but I can't imagine that he would find such results acceptable.

Yes they are. Trouble is this schedule is going to be like pushing a bolder uphill. Only 1 player can stop this team from making the playoffs and it’s Zach Wilson.

I could make the same joke about this entire forum. The GM turns a 7-9 team into a 6-27 team but this forum thinks we're "building the right way". 2022 is completely JDs team and this forum somehow thinks that we're a "middle-of-the road" and is ok with it.

"Give me 3 years and I will turn a 7-9 team into a 7-10 team! And if we're really lucky, we might actually go 8-9!" ...falsely attributed to JD.

I'm not going to go through the entire roster...but the o-line is at least top 10 and might even be top 5 right now.

The secondary was atrocious last season with some flashes of potential. But we brought in 2 top players and a top cb. And now, would be starters are actually fighting for playing time.

Breece Hall is pro-ready and was a steal in the 2nd. Michael Carter as the second back is pretty solid.

I was maybe the biggest critic of JD this past season. But he got the team he wanted and a solid draft to boot. Middle-of-the-road isn't acceptable.

7-9 was fool's gold. It was still a team with prominent free agents with bad contracts, and little done with the draft.

As for middle-of-the road for this season, I am willing to accept it because it is a step up from where they had been, and I would expect a team that is largely made up of freshmen and sophomores to go through growing pains. The talent is there, but there will be a maturation process.

If this team can only go 6-11 or 7-10 then its the coaching staff. I like most of the things JD has done.

I’m convinced this year will be better than 4-13 only because the roster is much more talented. But like others have noted, we’ve got 1st and 2nd year players dominating the best talent. If the kids make a big jump, we can be 11-6. But I can also see growing pains. If Zach only improves a little in year two, we finish 8-9ish, and have to wait for 2023.

But the torches and pitchforks will be there for anything less than a winning season. Bank on that.

7-9 was fool's gold but 6-27 followed by 7-10 is the real thing and a step up?!? C'mon man. I find it completely fanciful to imagine that Saleh and/or JD would feel that way.

That 7-9 team was played against a strength of schedule with a winning percentage of the 62 Mets. Let’s not forget they lost to not one but two winless teams during the course of the season
