Are the Jets definitely taking Zach Wilson?

And you know this how, because someone say so on TV or because you saw it yourself on game tape . I find it hilarious how this kid is criticized for throwing to his 1st read only and struggles if that read is covered . His 1st read must be opened a ton because he seems to hit it at an awfully high clip .
I never liked Darnold coming out of USC and said so back then when everyone and their mother was sucking for Sam . I'm not a big fan of Wilson now either but it is what it is . 2 Games were used by the critics to denigrate Fields but i dare anyone to show me the teams the Wilson played that compared to Northwestern or Indiana . Wilson played a game against Costal Carolina a team with much smaller players but speedier and the pressure he was under made a huge difference in his play .

Justin Fields and Ohio State won the games against Indiana and Northwestern . Refresh my memory about how Zack Wilson and the BYU Cougars did against Costal Carolina ?
Some of you keep throwing that out, so I decided to watch the highlights. If that loss is your argument against Zach Wilson, I can only assume that you didn't watch the game or the highlights. Also, I am pretty sure that Coastal Carolina was ranked higher than BYU when they played. BYU lost 22-16.

Starting with around 40 seconds left in the game Wilson brought his team from inside their own 20 to the CC 19 with 3 seconds left. On the last play of the game, Wilson completed a pass inside the 5, and his receiver was stopped at the 1, so ZW came that close to a game-winning drive. Overall, Wilson was 19-30 in the game for 240 yards, with 1 TD and 1 int., however, the interception came on a Hail Mary at the end of the first half which he literally threw 63 yards in the air!

If you think that game is an argument against drafting Zach Wilson, you are nuts. I feel even more enthused about him now than before watching those highlights!

I watched the entire game from beginning to end, not the highlights and no, it's not the only game i judged hun on. I love college football almost more than pro football . Zack Wilson was an after thought after the 2019 where he looked like a late round pick . He finished the 2020 season looking like a 1st round pick then it all started .
The same with the Kid Quin Meinerz. One talking head starts talking these kids up and before you know it they're going from late round picks to top draft picks in the mind of fans. The wild fire gets out of control .
It doesn't matter what i think anyway because i have no say in what the Jets are going to do . The Jets will make a decision in 2 weeks and after it's done I will become a Zack Wilson fan .
If you're a Jet and was not a member of the Miami Dolphins prior to becoming a Jet, you will get my support as long as you're on this team .

I said it before the season ended, and I said the same of Darnold before his second season at USC. I could care less what the experts have to say. His lack of anticipation does not translate well to the NFL. Separation closes quickly in the league

Fields played with NFL level talent at almost every position. Wilson did not. Easy to throw to your first read when its better than half the WR's in the NFL. Since we have to draft a QB this year, I'm ok with Fields, but prefer Wilson. Both have flaws. We have a way better coaching staff I think so maybe those flaws can be fixed.

I from the get go was not a fan of Wilson mainly because of the inferior schedule he played against this year. If the Jets draft him, I'll put my heart and soul in to rooting for him. Fields had mostly good days playing against a strong schedule. I just hope we come out smelling like roses on whoever we pick.

Hey, I rooted against the Jets for 14 weeks this season to get Trevor.
Then they did what any traditional Jets team would do. The opposite!

He played baseball in college. The Mets?

Actually Wilson does have family in N.Y. He committed to Boise State, and a couple of weeks before leaving for there, he decided
to go to BYU because it's 30 miles from his home. His uncle founded Jet Blue, we want Jet Green with him!

Maybe we will surprise everyone and take The Stanford QB at #2. Only the Jets could do something like that!

Well now that Fields has disclosed that he has epilepsy and has been taking meds for it, I think that may end this thread.

My knee-jerk reaction; see my later post.
Whoa, bombshell. It's manageable until it isn't.

here is an abstract from NIH Library of Medicine re: epilepsy as it relates to athletes competing in contact sports:

We discuss the impact of epilepsy on the lives of athletes involved in contact sports. Recommendations for epilepsy patients with regard to contact sports have changed over the years from avoidance to encouragement. It is conceivable that exercise could exacerbate seizures either directly, through hyperventilation, or indirectly by alteration of anticonvulsant levels. Seizures could also be injurious in contact sports, and recurrent minor head trauma could worsen epilepsy. However, evidence to the contrary abounds and very few case reports support these notions. Exercise benefits individuals with epilepsy in many ways including improved seizure control, mood, and quality of life. We suggest that athletes with epilepsy be evaluated on an individual basis, and follow sensible guidelines while participating in contact sports. There is no significant evidence to suggest that contact sports are harmful to athletes with epilepsy; however, common sense rules still apply.
